Omata, The Bringer Of The Rain And Rainbow

Krishnath said:
Well, he should have a strained relationship with the Rain Dragons, as they serve a similar function that he does (bring rain), but are more fickle and bloodthirsty.

I also suggest he has some sort of open conflict with a powerful (but evil) power of storms.

This is just suggestions, of course.

are there any evil storm powers ?
and i was thinking he more than likly as a pact with the rudy dragon and maybe one with the githzerai as they both mind flayers

Boz: They can be found in the Maztica Campaign setting for the (2e) Forgotten Realms. They don't look like dragons, but they are... :D

Omata: Well, theres Auril and Talos from FR... I'm sure there are others in other mythologies as well.

Pick and choose as you wish, these are just ideas...

GOALS

Idea 1.

If he's going to be an enemy of ilsensine (sp?) who I believe gets to control cranium rats it might be nice to give him hivemind control of snakes in his own realm or perhaps even a network of psionic snakes similar to ilsensine's network of cranium rats it would be his goal to fight a hidden psionic war in this way... (maybe not very lawful that one)

Idea 2.

Colonise the planes with spy trees! :D
Seriously though how about watcher plants/psionic empowering plants which have begun to grow in groves through the planes. They promote psionic communities in them and Omata could even perhaps watch through them or communixate to followers that stay in such groves.

Idea 3.

Be behind a psionics guild in Sigil, there isn't currently one (as of rules etc.) and forming one could put the God in contact with powerful psions. (If he's lacated on Arcadia then he might have connections with the harmonium as well)

Idea 4.

Re-jungle Athas!
Wacky?...Yes!
But if considered then quite a possibility, jungle? psionics? it seems to extrapolate that since athas is an important crystal sphere where psionics are hugely important Omata would be interested in it, the fact that it is a desert of despoiled land (that was once fertile and is controled by dragons) where magic only leads to further destruction would seem to mean he'd have even more concern. A friend of preservers on that world I would say personally...
He might see the world as a possible center of believers in the furture...

What do people think?

cool ideas... :)

as for auril and talos, i'm gonna avoid any FR stuff. might hit up some WoG gods (as they're "standard D&D" these days) if any are applicable.

i could see an alliance with Sardior the Ruby Dragon, but i think the githzerai are just too chaotic to maintain any sort of long-lasting relationship with such a lawful being.

i very much like the "hivesnakes" vs cranium rats idea...

kinda "ehh" on the spy plants idea...

also like the Harmonium/psionics guild idea...

and that Athas idea is genius. :)

I seem to remember the githzerai as quite focussed beings who just happen to live on a (read THE) chaotic plane... unless I'm thinking of the wrong giths...

yeah, but their alignment is CN isn't it?

and it may not be they that have the issue with Omata, it might be he that has a problem with them.

of course, they could manage to work out some sort of treaty, after all, "the enemy of my enemy..."

They can have any partially neutral alignment. Also, they have monk as favored class, unless I'm totally mistaken. (At least the MotP version, in the PsiHB it was Psychic Warrior, I think.)

right, but it's not a question of *can have*. the race as a whole, is CN on average. thus, i doubt Omata would make an alliance with them as a race. but, maybe a group or clan of less chaotic githzerai might do.

Githzerai alignment is any neutral, but their society favors lawful individuals, as such individuals are more adept to fighting Illithid and Githyanki.

Boz: Talos and Auril, where examples, there are probably others in other mythologies.

Regarding athas, there is one big problem, there is no way for divine beings to enter or excert influence over that particular plane, as the only connections that particular plane has are direct links to the elemental planes... (I've read the Dark Sun Campaign Setting Boxed Set from cover to cover... :D). The only reasonably divine being on that world is the dragon king...
