Once Upon A Time in the Weird West

Jianna, human female.

"We've got more company! Coming up the street. Lets finish these guys and get out of here. The whole town looks like its ... infected."

Jianna will pull back if the zombies are getting too close to her, wheeling the horse around in a circle to bring her up a little further down the street. Meanwhile, Jianna continues to take shots at the zombies when possible.

"And what's up with that dog. Its definately not with them."

Or its just right ticked off 'cos they haven't fed it in a while.

Jianna tries to recall if she has read or heard of anything of the likes of that dog, or its behaviour.

The Priest snatches his hatchet from his belt again as Hammer rears up on his hind legs, kicking with one hoof after the other. As Hammer's forelegs touch the ground, the horse snaps its jaws while the Priest swings his sword and hatchet.

Priest quickdraws hatchet and full attacks with longsword and hatchet - +3 for flanking and mounted. Hammer full attacks with 2 hooves and bite - +2 for flanking.

 

[Krug]

Hammer's legs slam into the sheriff and knock him to the ground. Hammer's hooves come down and dig into his body, but the corpse is already dead. Priest draws his hatchet but the sheriff is already dead. Jianna's shot remains good, piercing the zombie in the head and dispatching it near to her sibling. She can already see maggots crawling on some of the wounds, and like the others, there is a large wound in the chest area, next to the heart.

The dog huffs and wheezes. The shambling forms of four more of the creatures approach, but they are about 50' to 80' away, and with their slow pace, there should be no problem outrunning them. It looks up at the duo imploringly.

Jianna can only recall stories about ghostly hounds and dogs who took revenge for their murdered masters. But a thought strikes her, that it knows. It knows what happened here.

The bells continue to toll, maintaining their rhythm. TONG TONG TONG.

Jianna, human female.

Jianna snorts with satisfaction. At last a decent shot.

"Priest. I think we ought to get out of here."

It occures to here that there is no reason that have to go together. An hour ago, she had never even heard of this man. She could just turn and ride. But she realise that she has already started to think in terms of two people. The idea of having some at her side when having to face whatever darkness lies ahead is appealing. And having someone familier with fighting the forces of darkness even more so.

Jianna turns and whistles to the dog. She feels rather foolish doing so.

"We are leaving this dustbowl. If you want, you are welcome as well."

 

[silentspace]

The Priest nods at the girl and looks around.

"What about the bells? There might be people who need help."

The Priest tries to orient himself and figure out where the bells are coming from, moving away from the zombies as needed.

Jianna, human female.

Jianna sighs as she urges the horse forwards

If there are any survivours, then the church is likely where they hid. And ringing the bells is likely how they would call for help.

"We can circle back around and come from another direction.

"But if you have any water, I could do with some."

Before I fall off this horse.

 

[Krug]

The bells ring from the church about 60' away from you, down the street. TONG TONG TONG, they continue to pound.

The four zombies on the street ahead shamble towards Priest and Jianna. The nearest one is about 30' away.

 

[silentspace]

The Priest moves towards the church, avoiding the zombies and watching to see what the dog's reaction to his movement is. He shouts out "Is anybody here?"

 

[Krug]

The zombies snarl, drool dripping from their mouths. Obviously they're not going to let you pass without a fight.

The dog comes between Jianna's and Priest's steeds, growling back.

Just a reminder that Priest has Paladin abilities...

Jianna, human female.

Jianna watches in surprise as the Priest turn his horse and heads straight for the church, and the zombies.

She sighs again. I don't have the energy for this. There are other ways beside a straight line between two points.

She wheels the horse and sets off in a direction that will allow her to circle around the zombies and back to the church. She keeps her eyes open for any sign of zombies. She watches her escape routes.
