One DM for the campaign please

In both groups I play with there are several of us that DM, in fact with the group where I'm playing most regularly on our last session with only 3 of the 5-6 regular players present all three players also GM.

I don't normally find it a problem, but it can occasionally devolve into rules debates, but I do still believe GM's word is final.

In my current campaign I have had absolutely no problem at all with the 2 experienced GMs in the group (Monstermash & another, not on these boards). Experienced GMs tend to see things from the GM's POV, in my experience. All the debates IMC, which have not been bad, have been with the inexperienced GM (who is more likely to query my judgements, like yesterday with the dragon breath AoE *grr* :)), and one of the non-GMing players whose rules-fu is meagre - mostly debates about the 3.5 Tumbling rules re his Rogue. In a game I played in where the GM had also been a player IMC I was occasionally a bit of a back-seat driver, although I tried to stop myself, she was a perfectly good GM but it was Midnight and so brutal that the players were always seeking ways to not die, which could result in querying decisions. Judging by the OP and my experience, I think inexperienced GMs are probably the people most likely to query judgements.

We try to play once a week and to my suprize, he is off to join the ranks of the Navy in a month. It will be difficult to write him out because he has made himself into the "allstar" of the party.

My entire group is comprised entirely of DMs (four of us). We take turns DMing, when the campaign conludes, it rotates to the next DM and so on. That way, everyone gets a turn. I've also found that, in 95% of the cases, if a problem arises, we discuss it as a group and come to a conclusion rather quickly, being DMs ourselves. We will get in the the occasional heated arguement, but these are almost always due to a creative issue as opposed to a rule issue, and these we just chock up to 'creative differences' and move on.
Overall, I've found that DMing a group of DMs is easier than DMing a group of pure players or a mix, much to my surprise. I've found that DMs tend to open their minds a bit more, and are willing to cut you some more slack as well, as they know what it's like to be in your shoes.

I agree completely. Not all of my players are GM's themselves but the majority have sat in the chair at least once or twice. I think it helps them understand the amount of work involved in being a GM and encourages them to "work with you".
