Oh I'll be there, for at least three days, probably all four. Planning on several RPGA games and spending some serious cash!

See you all there.

I stayed at the Hampton last year and it was a really good experience. I think we're trying for the Marriott this year, but I read that alot of area hotels are already booked by the time pre-reg day rolls around. I'm wondering if I should just stick with the AAA discount and book a room now...

GenCon books very large lots of rooms specifically for the con. So on some occasions if you call the hotel directly they will tell you they are booked up for that weekend. If you go through GenCon's process to get a room then there are rooms available. Now it is possible for some of the more popular hotels to fill up quite quickly even through the GenCon reservation system.

With that said, last year a small group of us were able to get two rooms for Saturday night (we were only trying to get Saturday, not sure if Thurs and Fri were booked or not...) when we signed up for our badges in July sometime. All of the hotel's websites were saying they were booked full, but by using the GenCon system we managed to get a room. The hotel was even one of them that was indirectly connected to the Convention Center, so its not like we had to stay far away and drive from the hotel to get there.

Overall, I think GenCon has a pretty good system in place.
