One piece of advice...

There are so many pieces of advise to choose from. I can't choose just one....

"The toes you step on today may be attached to the ass you have to kiss tomorrow."

"He who fires a bullet into the air can never be sure of where it may land."

It's important to have dreams and goals as a child. That way, when they're crushed mercilessly, breaking your heart, it prepares you for life as an adult. I didn't dream enough as a child.

Never eat spinach with a stranger.

Seriously, though, I heard one from a computer game that claimed to be an old Chinese saying as well as the only truth in the universe: "This, too, shall pass."

My favorite two, though:

1. "Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind." - The Holy Bible, Matthew 22:37b (New International Version)

2. "Love your neighbor as yourself." - The Holy Bible, Matthew 22:39b (NIV)

My advice: Religion in a thread kills it.

I was answering the OP's question, in part, with quotes from a book. I wasn't preaching. If you think my answers are poor pieces of advice (pieces of advice being what the OP was asking for) then I suggest you simply ignore my answer and post your own answer to the OP's question.

Thank you,

"This, too, shall pass" is the one philosophy that let me get through my childhood without going insane, let me tell you. But in the interest of some new ideas...

Serious: Never do anything unless you're prepared to face/handle the consequences, both good and bad. IMHO, there's a metric truckload of problems in the world that would be fixed if everyone took their personal responsibility seriously.

Light-hearted: You're only too old/cool for something if you think you're too old/cool for it. You could spend your time being mature/cool but not doing things you might otherwise enjoy, or you could say, "You know what, this childish/dorky/nerdy thing is really fun, and anyone who snubs their nose at having fun because it's 'not cool' has too much starch in their shorts."

Peace & Luv, Liz

I dont have a problem with your answer at all. I was just saying that any discussion of Religion in a thread at all tends to get that thread locked.
