Cleric, healing is the number one priority, but then again a bard can heal, but a cleric would kick a bard's ass in combat, but if it was with any sort of sneaking or running away than the bard would be a better choice.

I would recommend a Cleric1/RogueX, with just enough Wisdom to cast 1rst level spells. You can generally take care of yourself as long as you don't get into a huge melee.

ok how about cleric
healing spells, turning, if your real crazy arange for spontanious harm and multi-class as a monk, deliver held chages via unarmed allack. Plus try and get hoocked up with the luck and strength or destruction domains.

What's the nature of the adventure?

One against an army? Combat-heavy dungeon crawl? Personality-driven roleplaying experience?

Seeing what you could do with a Commoner or an Aristocrat could be fun :)

I would play a barbarian- because thats the way I am!
I like the survior aspect of the barbarian- toughness, combat prowess and independance. His/her lack of social graces can make for an interesting character, especially when they encounter those that asume they are ignorant/stupid. Play a smart canny barbarian and use the uncothness (is that a word?) as a shield in the civilized world.
