Normally, I do a half-assed job DMing. This time, I used my whole ass, and it really paid off.

So if poor Raggart dies of his wounds and everyone else lives I will bring in a traveling warrior cleric (those I know how to play) as the new combat system is deadly for unarmored characters.

Well, not to "dis" your character or anything, HM...but maybe if your wizard had some combat spells to use? LOL. I mean...the whole staff thing just doesn't work for a first level wizard!

Problem was me forgeting he had scrolls, I forgot we got extra gold and played him like a regular LVL 1. And he doesn't use the standard LVL 1 wizard back up (i.e. crossbow) so I just tried to get in there and give flank bonuses and aid another. And the whole time he could have magic misslied or at least put on mage armor first.

Guess I should stick to being a HolyMan

No, he acted before we did, so none of that damage applied. Now if he hadn't been immune to arrows, I think this combat would have went much differently to be honest.
