(OOC) D&D 3.5 - Paridon: The Dark Metropolis (Ravenloft)

Rhun and kinem, do Torhan or Fr. Berman have a response to the activity this round? We got the gnome attacking Fr. Berman, Calahan tossing lots of fire at him, Ru trying to get him off the priest, and Darian telling everyone to get back.

Father Berman is attempting to duck out of the way of the explosives. I was waiting to base his actions on the situation that exists after that. But I guess we are not doing standard turn based resolution, since you ask at this point, so I'll post.

Don't forget to check your threads, now that we're losing subscription capability.

Besides, things have just gotten particularly dire for our heroes. How would you like to move foreard from here?

Good to hear it.

By the way, now would be a good time to discuss character death. Two PCs are very close to death if not already dead (no, I won't tell you which yet). I'd consider these "good deaths," as in dramatically appropriate. Rhun or kinem, would either of you like a dramatic final scene? Or would you rather have things continue according to the rule mechanics?

If you want a final scene, the character will die, but I'll let them have one last opportunity to steal the spotlight and be awesome. Like a dead monster, a sweeping monologue, stuff like that. However, you could just go by the mechanics, in which case you're at the HP I've got for you (how far in the negatives, I won't say just now) and you have a chance to live. The mechanics to everything else will also apply.

Either way, with your old character or a new one, you'll be welcome to play further in the rest of this adventure and into the next.

I'd rather take the chance that Father Berman survives. If he does, I plan for him to be somewhat changed by the experience - regretting the risk he took to help out another, he would become slightly evil :] "No good deed goes unpunished."

If he dies, I'll come up with something ...

Sorry, Rhun. The numbers just didn't work out in your favor this time, what with starting the turn in the fire, taking the monster's spray damage, and the fall/crush damage as well. That hadn't killed you completely; you were at -9 hp... then didn't stabilize.

For fast continuation, you can take one of the other PCs for now and continue with him: we have Perrin and Hieran available. You can also choose an associated NPC that you can stat as you like, such as Fitch or Fr. Abingdon. Or, you can make a whole new character right now. Any way you like, you're welcome to join back in quickly.

When we start Book 2, feel free to make a new character. If the other PCs want to perform a Raise Dead, that might be possible, but it would take a large amount of political will to get it done--they are about 5500gp each.

Poor Torhan. At least he went out on a high note, saving the world from the vampiric menace. Maybe he can be named a Saint by the church...that would be pretty sweet! By the way, if he comes back as undead, he is going to strangle Calahan for blowing the place up! :D

I'll definitely want to start a new PC for Book 2...we'll need another fighter-type. I think for now I will play Perrin for the rest of Book 1. How close are we to the end?
