Oh right... in PbP I've been giving inspiration control to the players. So right now it belongs to... that durned dwarf. He can use it at any time he wants. At any time (before or after it's used), he can pass it to another player he thinks has done something inspiring (or since it's the player and not the character, something funny or whatever). Any time it is passed it is refreshed to be ready to use. It can be passed even after it has been used.

But but we could use it as a bag of holding!

OOC: Detect Magic is concentration based, so you can't maintain it and Unseen Servant at the same time. I think casting any ritual will actually cancel any continuing concentration based spells, IIRC, but don't have my books in front of me to verify.

Just let it happen, this should be pretty fun, all things considered.

Unseen Servant is not a concentration spell (Detect Magic is). It's why I called it a 'daemon'...like the computer programming notion of a daemon...something that runs in the background and does stuff. If casting a ritual breaks concentration, I'm unaware of such a rule.

Oh yeah, my bad on the Unseen Servant part. I was thinking it was Concentration based. But the rules on ritual casting (to be specific, the rules on casting spells with a casting time longer than one action) do indicate that you use the Concentration mechanic while casting the spell. I've always read that to mean that it would break any concentration you are maintaining on other spells.

You have to maintain concentration while casting the ritual. I think that's in the PHB somewhere. I personally believe that means you would lose concentration on anything else that requires it. Doesn't change anything in this situation I believe, as the unseen servant was already summoned.

I looked at ritual casting in the magic chapter and didn't see anything about concentration. But DM's rules so whatever is fine with me. You do have to break concentration to ready a spell.

Question: How many of the books can I reasonably carry? Definitely want the one I have on divinations and phantasms one.

It's in the section that explains casting time.

Hell, I think we should take all of these books if we can.

Can I disarm magic traps? I'm not at all familiar with them.
