ooh, i died! what should i play next?

A barbarian cleric who worships dark gods to appease them and send their wrath elsewhere so that they won´t hurt his friends and tribe.

Was a concept I wanted to play but never happened. The fun thing in my DM campaign was that you could worship two gods at the same time. So my cleric would have worshipped the god of slaughter and the good god of protection and justice.

This would have been a shock for our Evil? CHARGE! paladin.

ok, here's what's shaping up in my head... gnomish bard that serves olidamarra. :D that way, i can make mischeif with the cleric of olidamarra...

Excellent! Suggestion is really going to be your friend, then. ;)

Revenge has always been the prime motivator for ultra cool PC's that kick arse.
Play a cleric, I think one of the largest amounts of hate I ever got was playing a cleric. Wasnt even a very fancy cleric or optimised and as another BBEG is down to its last 10hps, it was hilarous to hear the scream from the other side of the table....

"JUST GODDAMN DIE DAMN CLERIC!!!"

to which the reply was "Flamestrike"

So, I retired as the GM was in tears every time I got cranky and nuked all his 'lil babies' into ash, the walking med-kit-flamestrike cleric ascended to play with the other clerics up there in the heavens.
Which left us with no cleric.
hmmmm I thought, may as well make this bastard suffer, I really liked that cleric and so did everyone else because it actually healed them when they need it.
Gathering around the other think tank of gamer nerds and uber munchkins in the office we got to thinking, how do we break this GM? He made me retire a character I loved and he was being a ****wit about the whole thing, I mean, all it did was nuke and heal :(
Cleric archer? nah, too blatant.
Paladin, nah, already got one.
fighter, been there done that.
rogue, not what we need at the moment.
So we crunched and crunched and came up with a rather innocent looking enough build. Elf, figher-rogue and tacked on a few levels of Order of the bow initiate. I'd always wanted to play an archer in 1E-2E but they sucked so bad you wouldnt pay $2 for it down at a knocking shop.

I think I worked out that it was doing 1D8+10+9D6 a shot at a rate of 6 shots a round.
We didnt need healing :D

It worked.
Broke him bad, bad in a way that cuts a man right to his soul deep down inside...

( I mean, it was either that or a Kobold on a dire weasel)

so, i get to make a new 4th level character. most of my characters have been over the top wacky lately, so i'd like to try something a bit more serious (which will undoubtedly devolve into over the top wacky within 3 sessions, i know, i know...) i like basic character classes, so maybe a wizard or a bard? maybe a plain old human fighter? oooh i know, a gnome? ;)

Goblin with 1 level of Rogue then, following an alignment shift, 3 levels of Paladin. One of the hated enemy seeking redmption. Probablly overly somber, and a bit of a self-hating racisit. Not to mention very evangelical. Pelor would be a good choice for god, I think, although some other god like Cuthbert might not frown on a combo Sneak Attack and Smite. Use the Rogue's dex and focus on ranged attacks or Weapon Finess. In a few levels take a wardog mount.

Not saying it wil be easy, 0r even a great build, but it would be fun.

Human Cleric with the Knowledge and Madness domains, aiming for Alienist @ 6th level.

He doesn't worship the Elder Gods so much as siphon energy off of them, preventing them from manifesting in our world. His order chooses this path, knowing that it will drive them insane, but knowing they do it to protect the world from greater horrors...

How's THAT for dark 'n brooding? Plus, you get some nice DC bonuses in the long run, the Pseudonatural template on all your summoned beings at L6, +1 caster level, etc.

It's a shame that swordwraiths don't create spawn. A dwarven emancipated spawn brings quite an image to mind.

i don't want to remember her that way! heh heh

she'll be an NPC in my own games soon enough...

I am playing a 3rd level rogue 2nd level fighter and 5th level Shuo Disciple (from the Eastern Forgotten Realms book) and it is an absolute blast! Got some +1 shocking bracers of striking (from magic of fearun) and I just go mad on stuff. Going to take my next 10 levels in barbarian. On a surprise round at 10th level with a charge attack I do 2d6 (unarmed strike) + 2d6 (sneak attack) +1d6 (electric) +1d12 (Flying Kick) +7 (str, weapon spec..)… NPCs normally start getting pissed about then. Hehe.

I play him like Brad Pitt's character in Snatch (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0208092/) which I think is the best part… hehe it is a good time for sure!

PS If any of you have not seen Snatch or Lock Stock and Two Smocking Barrels you should go rent them tonight.
