They had it comin. :]

Why did the trees have it coming? It's all the Druids fault. He turned them evil and forced them to attack people. All they wanted to do was live in their comfortable little park and enjoy the scenery.

Well, there must have been some other spell (beyond control weather) cast to go with the changed weather, because (according to the Hypertext d20 SRD), the caster has no control over where any lightning resulting from the spell strikes.

Admittedly, it could somehow be pure coincidence that lightning resulting from Durkon's spell struck where he needed it to. Or Rich could be chucking the rules for the sake of good story in this case, because it most certainly is entertaining story. ;)

They're trees, lass. Murd'rous to the core, ev'ry last one o' them.

Durkon did right in smitin' them wi' the might fist o' Thor.

It doesn't matter where the lightning strikes, as long as it was within range--the thunder is what destroyed the trees, not the lightning.

Well, that was an excellent one. Roy's sister's commentary on Durkon was excellent.

Durkon gets his revenge on the trees from way back.

I also loved the subtle touches. Look at V's smile in the last panel.

Cheers :)
