Remember folks, True Seeing is 60', but See Invisibility is forever.

120 feet, but I get the point. :D

If Xykon's using some of that third-party broken stuff, however, (like, say, Superior Invisibility from Spell Compendium which fits the bill even if it doesn't!) then See Invisibility's out the window.

It's line of sight. Isn't it?

... isn't it?

Oh, don't get me started... we had a campaign with a gnomish illusionist (racial substitution level, make a caster level check of HARD to see through the illusion at all...) with Superior Invisibility. Wow. Painful. For the bad guys, but still...

Yes, it is:

You can see any objects or beings that are invisible within your range of vision, as well as any that are ethereal, as if they were normally visible. Such creatures are visible to you as translucent shapes, allowing you easily to discern the difference between visible, invisible, and ethereal creatures.

The spell does not reveal the method used to obtain invisibility. It does not reveal illusions or enable you to see through opaque objects. It does not reveal creatures who are simply hiding, concealed, or otherwise hard to see.

Whereas true seeing let's you see through more tricks, but only has a 120 ft. range, doesn't last as long and requires a 250 gp ointment:

You confer on the subject the ability to see all things as they actually are. The subject sees through normal and magical darkness, notices secret doors hidden by magic, sees the exact locations of creatures or objects under blur or displacement effects, sees invisible creatures or objects normally, sees through illusions, and sees the true form of polymorphed, changed, or transmuted things. Further, the subject can focus its vision to see into the Ethereal Plane (but not into extradimensional spaces). The range of true seeing conferred is 120 feet.

Not knowing whether Xyon was hiding using using illusion, invisibility or polymorph, true seeing would be the better option, though I don't see why somebody wouldn't have had see invisibility prepared as well, just in case.
