<snip>For some reason - maybe because I got a chance to see a dual-wielding halfling ranger in play not too long ago, in RL - he's the only character in OotS my brain tends to over-analyze like that, but I can't shake the thought he actually ought to be worthless.
<snip>

Quite simply, not all halfling rangers are created equal... or any other build style for that matter. The one you saw was gimp... doesn't mean they all are.

Back in 3.0 I had a halfling barbarian/ranger/fighter/rogue (1 each) solo an Ogre by the time it took the rest of the party to get into melee (he rushed the big guy while the rest were fighting goblins).

Halflings get -2 Str. Not the end of the world. Mine had a 19 Str in rage.

Is there anyone cooler than Belkar in the universe?

I really hope he doesn't die...

everyone knows in stories when you do something selfless... it kills you. Now granted he was not selfless about his actions but he did do the right thing, and so i do wonder if he will die or not.

Also, Richard has said he will never stat out his characters (unlike forgotten realms... what a mistake). Oots is unstatable. Thats not to say someone can't get close, but it its still a leaky bucket. characters in Oots power levels change from strip to strip. Its a story that makes fun of d&d. That doesn't mean its d&d with *graphics*.

I'm sure everyone knew that already, but i think it could use repeating.... theirs a reason Richard didn't stat out his characters.

anyway, with that said.... stat away. ;)

My money is on the dwarf cleric getting hit by the poisoned arrow. To fulfill the "goes home dead" prophecy. :)

Have to say I'm sorta doubtful that poison will do all that well against a dwarf cleric :D
