[OotS 444] Does he have the X's in his eyes?

Yeah, I feel like they needed to let it sink in for a little bit before talking about how they can reverse it. Rich is obviously trying to give this death SOME impact, as hard as it is in D&D where you can come back from the dead.

Oh, I'm all about meaningful death in D&D (and D&D fiction). But here's the thing...

Rich has made it very clear that the OotS world operates on D&D physics. Therefore, he's got to be careful not to sacrifice the verisimilitude of the world and the characters. If he ignores the raise dead option for too long, without providing a solid in-character reason for it, it's going to feel artificial.

Don't get me wrong, I trust Rich. I'm sure he'll make it work. Again, I was mostly just expressing surprise at the characters.

Oh, it had some impact!

Even if Durkon does not want to raise Roy, Hinjo has his own clerics too.

Haley might even foot the bill, split the loot she was hording from the Oots to 'hire' the band to go off and rescue her dad.

Don't forget Elan's Gift Certificate for a favor from the government of Azure City. Elan looks up to Roy as a "surrogate big brother" and "best friend in the whole wide world" (http://www.giantitp.com/comics/oots0388.html), I could easily see him cashing in his favor for a Raise Dead (or even True Resurrection if Hinjo has a 17th level Cleric anywhere)

He could go on a side quest... perhaps a lil coffee with his pops to learn some more strategicvally placed plot points..

Or that he got enough XP to gain a level by hacking the dragon - but Rich "forgot" to add them onto his HP before he hit the ground. And onc ehe does remmeber, he will get up at 2 hp and get a heal spell from Dorukon.

I feel like I always jinx these things by mentioning them, but a few speak with dead spells + Roy would make some pretty funny comics until (hopefully) rez time.

I also want to see Roy's expression when he figures out Xykon cost him a level. :D

The trouble with raising Roy might not come from the availability of the spell, but the willingness to use it. Durkon might refuse to raise him on account of his glorious death in battle; doing so might go against his own ethics as a cleric of Thor(?). The paladins might feel similarly as well, and with Shojo gone, there's no one to handwave the sacred traditions of the paladin order. I'm thinking there will be a side-quest involved.

Dorukon would be the hidden lovechild of Durkon and Dorukan, if it weren't for the inconvenient fact that both are male and neither are likely to use Elan's belt of sexchange since Dorukan is a bit too dead to bother about that and Durkon is a dwarf.

So, who is this Dorukon you are speaking of?
