Well, now comes the important part, right? What V does now that mommy dragon is gone.

Save Haley, kill Belkar, turn Belkar into an undead that must serve her, destroy Xykon and do something to Red Cloak (but not ultimately kill him), face off against the Mystic Thurge chick, and seal the Snarl's cracks.

Then she feel entitled to rule the world. After that, things get interesting.

Or...

Rage spent, danger over, s/he can no longer hold on to the uber evils, and loses them.

After his family turns its back on him, he again seeks to find Haley and such...and so he asks for the power AGAIN. This time the deal isn't quite as sweet.

Interesting conversion.

The only thing about it I'd quibble over is that in 1st edition, all dragons had a non-standard spell progression. The described spell-casting ability indicates that pink dragons have roughly the magical spell casting prowess of black dragons, only with an emphasis on illusions. Since none of the other dragons retained non-standard spell progression through the editions, I don't see a reason why the pink dragon should.

I think I would have liked this storyline better if V had to deal with the consequences of his actions instead of having a Faustian deal to save his ass.

It feels cheap.

The Faustian deal will not save him from the consequences of the actions taken while under the effects of the Faustian deal, which so far are far, FAR worse than killing a young dragon in the normal course of adventuring.

It's been a little while since we did that one, but, IIRC, we wanted to make the Pink extra pathetic. Hence the unique weak spellcasting.

We'll see.

If something bad happens to V - big deal, I'm sure he would have traded his life for saving his family.

If something bad happens to his family... well, that would show him, but I doubt that'll happen.

edit: Maybe he'll kill off his family. That would be cool.

Kickass.

And yes, V now has to deal with the consequences of making the pact. Needless to say, V is now screwed, but V also needs a lesson in humility badly.
