Do fighters have to safeguard their magic weapons that carefully in your campaign too?

Errrr..... [looking around]Spellbooks pop up? Heck wizards in my campaigns always spent tons of gold safeguarding their spellbooks (because they knew I'd have them stolen otherwise).

The spellbooks are clearly on the ground on the island. Even if Vaarsuvius's robes can store an infinite number of spellbooks without encumbrance via the DM's handwave, he still would have had to recover them between receiving the soul splice and leaving to rescue her family.
