OotS 841 is up

Perhaps it's meant to scare people away, or to scare away anyone who might be looking for Girard for non gate-related reasons?

...Yeah I can't come up with much to explain this to be honest. Better to just wait for more updates. Eventually it'll become clear.

Yeah. Because really, only Xykon (of known NPC's) is powerful enough to kill that many people before they can even react.

I think V did it...

[sblock=my guess]

V cast famlicide just around lunch time.

1/5th the black dragons died from it.

a sorcerer named Drake might have dragon blood in it.

and if his whole family died a short while ago, say around lunch time...
[/sblock]

I think the Order will have no choice but to blow this gate and make there stand at the last one... becuse if Nale and Xykon are both there, they can not stand up to that fight.

I wonder how my PCs would feel about a CoDzilla with 9th level spells working with a Lich with 14th level spells and epic spell casting... yea I think I would get a book thrown at me.

Oh wow, I didn't even think of that. It'd be almost hilarious if that's what happened, and I think it'd make sense based on the amount of time between the casting of that spell and now in comparison to how much their bodies seem to have rotted.

I don't think so. They have been wandering around the Western Continent for some time (months) after V did his/her thing. The bodies look too fresh, especially with bugs munching on them.

Besides, SOMEBODY cast the scrying eye spell thingy seen here: Giant In the Playground Games

1) Xykon is busy with his phylactery? On that ethereal fortress spot

2) Xykon cast some swarm spell

3) Epic Illusionist made an illusion, or this is a decoy to throw everyone off, using bodies somehow fabricated out of beef

4) Epic Illusionist is pulling a Destruction from Sandman: slaying any links between himself and the gate, including descendants.

5) There are other epic characters in this setting.

6) C'mon, you think we can predict what the Giant is writing? He's fantastic at these curve balls.

Poisoned with a really strong poison by someone wanting to save them from a worse fate* or the whole group went Jonestown. Tho OOTS will probably spend a few strips chatting with whoever poured the killer kool-aid. If the 'victims' were not in on it, it would take STRONG poison since they are still so close to their seats.

EDIT: * Symbol above Elan's speech bubble looks like the Snarl.

Given the expected caliber of people who would be guarding the Gate, it would need to be pretty strong for that many of them to fail their saves. But as to keeping them near their seats, it would simply need to be a poison whose initial effect was sleep, unconsciousness or paralysis.
