Orb spells vs anti-magic?

Not sure if it's in the rules, but I would never let an AMF stop an Epic spell, chalking it up to the line about "mortal magic." If we're talking about wish/miracle, it's possible the caster might also be epic.
Like others, I'd allow wish/miracle to destroy an AMF, but that's not RAW.

Note what is RAW: Iron Heart Surge, a level 3 maneuver, can literally punch an AMF down. I don't think it's out of line to let a wish or miracle duplicate the effects of such a low level martial maneuver, assuming it's cast from outside the AMF.

I don't think that works....

Is Iron Heart Surge from Tome of Battle? I guess I should have had her cast an immediate action spell to move out of the way when she got debuffed. I haven't really used the book before in this campaign...

It's 20-20 hindsight now. However, if they try that again, I'd hopefully be a bit more prepared for it, as my BBEG is smarter than me.

Why not?

Relevant SRD text:

A burst spell affects whatever it catches in its area, even including creatures that you can’t see. It can’t affect creatures with total cover from its point of origin (in other words, its effects don’t extend around corners). The default shape for a burst effect is a sphere, but some burst spells are specifically described as cone-shaped. A burst’s area defines how far from the point of origin the spell’s effect extends.

An emanation spell functions like a burst spell, except that the effect continues to radiate from the point of origin for the duration of the spell. Most emanations are cones or spheres.

Antimagic Field
Area: 10-ft.-radius emanation, centered on you

Shield, Tower

This massive wooden shield is nearly as tall as you are. In most situations, it provides the indicated shield bonus to your AC. However, you can instead use it as total cover, though you must give up your attacks to do so. The shield does not, however, provide cover against targeted spells; a spellcaster can cast a spell on you by targeting the shield you are holding. You cannot bash with a tower shield, nor can you use your shield hand for anything else.

Seems pretty simple to me.

Of course, it's not the most convenient thing for a cleric.

From the situation described, it sounds like the dispells were more influential in destroying the cleric than the AMF. Once the cleric got debuffed and pulled into melee, he was in trouble.
