OSRIC talk

I'm not that familar with the limits of OSRIC. Are we just going to get modules or can other types of books be made using it?

You can write other kinds of books with it. I have! See:

Actually, I'm looking forward to really playing with the rules to get all the wacky ideas out that I never got to use in my 1e games, or houserules that I never saw duplicated anywhere else. Mob United Media's plan is to provide rules support fpr OSRIC -- I don't want to tread on the toes of the folks doing modules.

I don't think I'm giving away any big secrets to say that the Knights & Knaves crew (i.e. Stuart, Matt, and assorted other contributors (including me)) are on the verge of releasing Monsters of Myth, which will be an approx. 100pp book of monsters compatible with OSRIC. This isn't an OSRIC-format rewrite of the 1E MM, but rather a book of all new monsters in the manner of Fiend Folio. From what I've seen of it, this should be a pretty exciting release for 1E fans (and fully usable by C&C fans as well).

So when you say pages, do you mean physical pages (print) or electronic (PDF)?
Physical pages definitely, not sure about electronic pages. I don't want to say much more about this before Stuart or Matt make an "official" release announcement, because I haven't been all that closely involved with the development (aside from contributing a couple of creatures and general kibbitzing) and therefore don't want to inadvertently either spread misinformation or leak things that aren't intended for public consumption yet. I'm hoping I haven't done so already...

I ran into this this morning at Dragons Foot's web site.

By Jerry Mapes of K&KA: "The upcoming Monsters of Myth book has its Cover Art finished.

Want a Sneak Peak?

Go to http://knights-n-knaves.com and click on the "Sneak Peak -- Monsters of Myth" link.

While you are there, you may want to check out the "What's New with OSRIC" section as well.

Jerry.

Wow...............is all I can say!

The thing that has me thinking is that if this can be done with non-open material it pretty much means it would be pointless for WotC to publish 4e as a closed system.

But this is definitely cool stuff. RPG now is going to like me even more very soon. :)
