By the way, for the print version are you considering using the absolutely indestructible binding system used on the 1st ed. AD&D players' handbook? :)

Lulu's casewrap hardcover is what I'm using. It's not Smyth sewn like the 1e PHB -- I can't find a print on demand supplier who even offers that -- but it does make a decent quality hardcover. You don't get those alarming crackling sounds you get when you open a cheap hardcover, there are proper endpapers and decent glue, etc.

Having said that, you'll be able to buy and wear out three softcovers before you've paid the price of one hardcover... so I'm expecting the softcover to be fairly popular.

Hmm. Given the immense amount of stuff that's being added to OSRIC, wouldn't an increment greater than +.01 be in order?

No! Version numbers should be version numbers, not marketing gimmicks.

& the people who started the x.y.z versioning schemes never meant the dots to be decimal points, but merely separators. e.g. 1.11 should represent a later version than 1.2.

IMHO. This is a pet peeve of mine.

Actually, there are several schemes of software versioning. Some of the common ones include major release numbers, minor release numbers, and patches.

If I had my way, books and other documents would never be given versions after the manner of software at all. However, OSRIC is already doing that, so I just thought I'd give my opinion.

I ordered February 9th, and it was shipped February 21. Now it has been 18 days (however, I am located in Europe so it isn't too alarming yet) and I am still waiting.
I got it today!! (I mean, the monster of Myth book). In hardcover it looks very good. The art is 100% old school. Many of the monsters have a kind of lovecraftian feel that should suit well my style of campaigns...

Now waiting for OSRIC being released as a hardcover too. :)

How durable does the book feel compared to others?

I strongly agree: because it's essentially a New! Improved! marketing gimmick that draws a misleading analogy between RPGs (creative works) and computer programs (where later versions are often legitimately better because they're written for more powerful hardware).
