Osyluth, not Bone Devil

I suspect it is called Osyluth because of the demon/devil debate. They probably had to do the art for the card (along with name) before it was officially decided upon and thus chose Osyluth as a name that did not signify demon or devil. At least I hope this is the case because I hate the names that don't include "devil" or "demon" in it. The latter gives the creature so much more name recognition.

PS - Any WotC people who read this, it would be nice if you could clarify their names on one of your blogs - as in will you be using Bone Devil or Osyluth in the DMG. I suspect there is a strong following for the former.

Actually, I think the reason it's called the Osyluth is because we already have a Bone Devil mini. :)

Cheers!

I'm inclined to believe this is the case as well. Mini reprints are frequently given different names to the original, just to eliminate confusion for the minis gamers.

What theory of mine is wrong Klaus?
That it might be a demon. The article mentions that the osyluth was is a state of flux, wether to be a bone devil or a bone demon, but then they decided that it would keep on championing tyranny and oppression.

Yeah, it looks too much like some type of freaky undead or demon to be a devil, especially with the new humanoid weapon wielding devils and the demon claw/bite boys model they're using.

I definitely want bone devils/osyluth to be devils and the whole police force thing someone else mentioned, I will just describe their appearance differently should I throw them in one of my campaigns.
