OT: Angel (spoilers)

There was an interesting contrast between Cordy and Angel.

He was tightly bound, by cables and the box. He was in darkness. He was descending - aginast his will - into a cold, wet, dark place in the depths.

She was free. She was in light. She was ascending - after making a decision of her own free will - into a place of warmth, into the air and in to a bright place.

He was going down.

She was going up.

What was going on was an ascenion and a decension. Two opposite idea and two opposite situations. They contrasted with each other.

There's a simple way to salvage the "higher being" plotline....

Cordelia asked Skip if it was a test. He didn't answer directly. Assume Cordy's right - it's a test, but not the test she thinks it is.

The test is - "are you willing to give up your friends to fight the fight The Powers that Be need you to fight?" If you have faith that the Powers know what they are doing, you may keep what you have. If you don't accept, the powers are taken back.

So, all they have to do is take her up.. and drop her back down and say "We just wanted to make sure. Go do what needs doing." Simple, elegant, and in character for TPTB.

That seems like it would be kind of a cop out. Its been done before, all the way back to Abraham and Isaac in the Bible. I think if these things aren't for real, then there would be a fair chance people would just say yes on a whim, and assume its just a formality.

I've heard that they probably won't be able to renew Charisma Carpenter's contract for next fall, so I would blame this, more than bad writing. The folks at Mutant Enemy are probably doing their best to make sure they can continue the plot with or without her.

It's hard to decide on the Cordy thing without seeing it fully played through. Even if she doesn't come back next season, they will have to have some resolution of her character with the other characters. I don't see Cordy disapearing without the others ever finding out where she went.

Well, does anyone know if Charisma Carpenter is under contract for next year or not?

From what I've heard they would have to extend her current contract to cover next years and that may not happen. If that is actually true, I don't know. I've yet to read a credited source about this either way.
