Good morning. Although I am English, I don't follow cricket much. However, I'm sure my Dad is going to be quite annoyed at what is so far happening...

Why do we even bother to send teams down there? And why bother sending half fit players anyway? *sigh*

Um...it's kind of like baseball.

Cricket is a team sport for two teams of eleven players each. A formal game of cricket can last anything from an afternoon to several days.

Although the game play and rules are very different, the basic concept of cricket is similar to that of baseball. Teams bat in successive innings and attempt to score runs, while the opposing team fields and attempts to bring an end to the batting team's innings. After each team has batted an equal number of innings (either one or two, depending on conditions chosen before the game), the team with the most runs wins

I'm an ousider looking in on Cricket, but I'll say this.

It must be hard being and English Cricket fan during the Ashes Series. It gets loads of press It lasts a whole month. 5 test matches. Each match lasts several days (I don't know much abotu Cricket, but the game lasts a long time). And from what I've seen in recent years, every minute of it is pretty painful. Several days of defeat, then, a week later, they go through it again, and again. And the Aussies don't hold anything back, they go for the 5 match sweep.

LOL. So except for batting, hitting, fielding, getting players out, scoring runs, substitutions and batting order, it's just like baseball!
