[OT] Favorite Band?

Teflon Billy said:
I'll list five (and wait for the inevitable poster who will list a hundred-odd bands to prove how broad his or her musical tastes are).

These are in order.

1. Pixies: Best band ever in my opinion.

2. They Might Be Giants

3. Cake

4. Tom Waits

5. Ministry/Revolting Cocks/rest of that incestuous Chicago industrial cabal
No offence Teflon Billy, but I believe that you are my evil twin. Or vice versa. Same bands opposite order! I'm completely freaked out! Tell me, would you have put Frank Zappa on your list if you had made your list longer? ........ Great minds think alike ?

my own picks....

favorite band of all time?

i could never ever answer that. not in a million years.

but.

some of my favorites include:

nine inch nails: trent reznor just keeps breaking the mold and stretching farther and farther with each album

david bowie: since 1968 he just continues reinventing himself without seeming fake about it. he is truly an evolutionary.

pink floyd: really nothing to say. the music says it all.

sting: the man has an amazing voice and an abilty to make you feel what the person in the song actually feels.

i could probably list a couple dozen more, but i won't.

p.s. teflon billy, you gotta love the chicago industrial family. so much great music came from that...

In no particular order....

Current favorite: Matthew Good Band

Older Tragically Hip stuff

Grant Lee Phillips/Grant Lee Buffalo--amazing folk/rock stuff. Did "Conchobar's" music for the Witchblade TV series in teh first season.

Older Watchmen stuff

Placebo

Bananarama/Bangles/Misc 80's stuff--I AM the Eye of the Tiger!

Pink Floyd

Led Zep

Corky and the Juice Pigs (Sean Cullen is a comedic God!)

Metallica, Staind, Rob Zombie

Lots of other stuff my brain is too tired to remember....

00s
90s AFX, UR, detroit 313 techno, faye wong, pixies, flaming lips
80s the specials, u2, xtc, WaxTrax! Records, talking heads
70s floyd, stevie wonder, cash
60s beatles, dylan,

good record companies

Plus 8
Underground Resistance
Too Pure
Warp!
WaxTrax: pre-90s

blah... too bored to write more or read other peoples faves

too tuff

Tool, Aerosmith, Pearl Jam, Metallica, Megadeth, The Doors, Weird Al, Cake, Counting Crows, James Taylor, Garbage, Live, Presidents of the United States of America, Smashing Pumkins, Alice in Chains, Black Sabbath, System of a Down, John Williams, Harry Gregson-Williams, James Horner...

The list goes on and on and on and on....

Rush! (The best thing to come out of Canada since beer and bacon :D )

But my CD player sees a healthy rotation of The Police, Led Zeppelin, U2, Alice in Chains, Black Sabbath, Jethro Tull, Rob Zombie, Soundgarden, and Van Halen

Joy Division, the Smiths, with the Cure and New Order sharing a third place. There were far less horrible music posted than I would expect, considering that most people who frequent ENWorld are Americans. You are obviously a good bunch!
