[OT] Favorite Band?

Looks to me like in a world with a million tastes and a million bands, They Might Be Giants is a clear stand out. You probably have to turn in your geek card or something if you didn't name them. ;)

I was going to ask if there was some sort of requirement that all gamers like TMBG.

Anyway my list would include Rancid, TMBG, Arrogant Worms (if you like TMBG and/or Weird Al give them a try, bit different but hey), Ash, Weezer, Tom Petty (with or without the HB's), Lynnyrd Skynnyrd, The Offspring, Collective Soul.

I'll stop there though I think I'll have to add Less Than Jake once I get more of their albums to better evaluate.

Wow, I listen to so many wildly divergent styles of music that its hard to pick a favorite. Picking a favorite from a given style is not too difficult, but an overall favorite? That's hard...

However, if forced to pick one, I'd have say Current 93. That's where my .sig comes from, after all. ;)

Other favorites include:
Joy Division
The Cure
Cradle of Filth
Morbid Angel
Death in June
Abyssos
Bach
Emporer
Crass
CCR
Johnny Cash
The Sisters of Mercy
Dimmu Borgir
Nature and Organisation
The Legendary Pink Dots

[edit]How the hell could I forget the Dead Kennedys?[/edit]

Hmm, I could keep this up all day...

No offence Teflon Billy, but I believe that you are my evil twin. Or vice versa. Same bands opposite order! I'm completely freaked out! Tell me, would you have put Frank Zappa on your list if you had made your list longer? ........ Great minds think alike ?

Frank Zappa would have definitely made my list...odder and odder.

Barenaked Ladies

One of the best bands out there today. Also they have a part of a song printed in the Return to White Plume Mountain. Not a lot of people give them the time of day, but if you listen to the songs they are quite interesting.

I have to give a multiple answer as well.

Up until the 'split', Sepultura was my absolute favorite. Roots was THE maturing point for them. Sadly, Max and his wife threw a tantrum that has yet to be beat by even creatures from the animal kingdom, and split away from the band so...

Fear Factory. Although I'm liking a lot of the stuff from Slipknot, and wildly on the other side of the scale, the works of Lindsay Buckingham (Brilliant Guitarist, in my opinion), Fear Factory still remains my favorite band of all time.
