[OT] Favorite Band?

Cake, TMBG, Weird Al, Matthew Sweet, Fountains of Wayne, Springsteen, Creed, Cyndi Lauper (especially the stuff she's done in the past 8 years!), most stuff Dr. Demento plays, and about 10 zillion other one, two, or three hit wonder alt rock bands.....

Recent discovery: O.A.R (Of A Revolution) - very cool, fun, Island/Reggae/Folk/Rock all blended together.

Good to see Cake on a lot of folks' lists, I thought it was just me who enjoyed them.

Well...I can only narrow it down to Iron Maiden, Slayer, Pearl Jam, Led Zeppelin, Death, Vader, Testament, Nevermore, Ozzy, Bruce Dickinson, Fantomas(anything with Dave Lombardo on drums), Pink Floyd, Mercyful Fate, & Queensryche.

I've been listening to Blind Guardians "Nightfall In Middle Earth" a lot lately.

P.S. These CCG cartoons are truly horrible. Pokimon, Digimon, etc. I don't know what this one is called but they guys are explaining the rules as they fight. What happened to good stuff like Thundarr The Barbarian?

Tons of stuff, but primarily The Matthew Good Band, Tool, 30 Seconds to Mars, Left Pencey, and The Dave Matthews Band.

EDIT: Doh! How could I forget Guster!

My favorite German band, too.

Absolute faves: Bad Religion

Other cool bands: NOFX, The Offspring, Weezer, Manowar (;)), System of a Down, Fünf Sterne Deluxe, Apocalyptica, Travis, Sportfreunde Stiller, The Vines...

One band: too difficult.

Boys: The Cure, Nirvana, Bad Religion, They Might Be Giants, and Rage against the Machine

Girls: Laurie Anderson, Ani DiFranco, Susan McKeown, Jane Siberry, and Sleater Kinney.

Looks to me like in a world with a million tastes and a million bands, They Might Be Giants is a clear stand out. You probably have to turn in your geek card or something if you didn't name them. ;)

Not to sidetrack the thread and all, but is it me and my curmudgeonly ways, or has top 40 REALLY SUCKED for about eight years now? I know it's always had a certain suckage quotient, but there was a renaissance period in the early 90s when you could turn on the radio and actually have a chance to hear some good mucic. That just doesn't happen to me anymore.

Pick up Sleater Kinney's 'One Beat' if you haven't yet. First 'great' record of the millennium, imho.

Bad Religion, Radiohead, the Roots, Fugazi, Outkast, Johnny Cash, Hank Williams, the dismemberment plan, Sugar, Tom Waits, etc., etc.

all time favorite would have to be the Pixes.

and yeah, i like TMBG, so i guess i get to keep my geek card.
