This is one of the saddest days of my life. My dog, my best friend had to die with dignity.

He was a 15 year old pit bull, and he was dying of kidney disease. He was in a lot of pain, and lthough I know I was doing the right thing by putting him out of his suffering, it still pains me greatly to do what I have done.

I will never see Buddy again, and I'll always miss him.

I'm so sorry. I know what it's like to lose an animal who is your best friend. Pets are the best and I'm sure your dog appreciates what you did for him, not just by letting him go with no pain and with dignity but throughout his entire life.

I'm not a religious person but this quote was given to me when my first ferret passed away a few years ago, and it has always stuck with me and made me feel better :

"A young child once taught me an important lesson about love and life. She said " Animals are put here with us to teach us lessons about being kind, patient and happy. When they have finished their work with us, it is time for them to rest and watch us from afar.
So they cross the Rainbow Bridge and spend the rest of their days making sure we are okay. Everytime you feel a little tickle you can't explain, that's their whiskers, just checking in , to make sure you are alright, because they never stop loving you."

That & that web site, always made me feel better.

I'm so sorry for your loss. And I'm sure I speak for many on ENworld when I say we're all here for you.

Damn, that sucks. I'd rather lose a finger than my dog, that's for sure. Sounds like he had a really good run at life, though, so that's something :(

Definitely sad. :( Please take comfort in knowing that you could do for him the one last favor that he couldn't do for himself.

I'm sorry for your loss. Losing a pet is one of the most heart wrenching things in life since dogs and cats have such short lifespans, and because they are a part of the family.
