Reaper, if it was the New England Patriots versus the Kabul Osamas I would probably go for it, but hey, it's two American teams. What's in a name? :)
you HAVE been watching the game, right? ;)
With all the Patriot references, and how even the SOLDIERS in Afghanistan had (almost a voice-over) saying, "Go Pats!"

Almost every thing that has been said has been skewed to highlight the Patriots' doggedness and physical and mental toughness, while up-playing the Rams defeciencies or injuries (sorry, Warner's not hurt).

Summerall saying, while showing footage of Isaac Bruce getting manhandled on a pass pattern: "Well, they're BOTH giving the business to each other" (Correcting Madden who said Bruce was getting beat up on the play)

SIR Paul McCartney "I hope the underdogs win.
And wouldn't it be incredible if a team called The Patriots could win the Superbowl?"

I'm smelling what the producers are cooking, all right.
It's as obvious as the flag that's waving right in front of my face...

So how much money have you got on the Rams reaper? :D

Just kidding!

I haven't been watching too closely but saw that the Pats were up by 14! just wanted to see what the other ENers are thinking of this.

Well, reaper, I've been watching on Danish TV so I don't know anything about what Madden said or didn't, but there is no way anybody could have scripted that finish. :D

OTOH wasn't Fox the channel that aired that "documentary" about the Moon landings being fake? ;)

Are you kidding? LOL
I'm not stupid - like i said, my wife saw this coming - how COULDN'T you see something up when they refer to the Patriots as a "Team of Destiny" after simply winning one playoff game?

Doesn't anyone else objectively see something fishy with the incredible deluge of patriotic jingoism that has infused this Superbowl, among ALL others, with a sickening Americanism?

doesn't that just seem AWFULLY strange to anyone?

Oh.. wait.
This obvious fact will attempt to be negated by someone saying the magic phrases:
a) "Don't whine.
b) "Conspiracy Theory"

Aparently you didn't notice in the other thread I asked God to please "Make the Rams Lose".
He answered, hence "Team of Destiny".
No one else asked so I won. :)

As someone who put their money on the Rams, I have to say that the Pats played a great game... And I am actually glad that they pulled off the upset. It's nice to have competitive Super Bowls, the blow out games seem like such a rip. Kinda like back in the day when all the Tyson fights would be over in less then a round.

Congrats to the Pats!

Wait a minute - you're just noticing that the Americanism of the Super Bowl (past and present) has reached sickening levels now?

Where the heck have you been reaper? ;)

Anyway fixing in pro sports wouldn't exactly be an earth shattering event. its happened before, is probably happening now and will definately happen in the future.

Try not to let it get you down too much - at least the last quarter was damned exciting

It would hardly do to try and counter your subjective view with objectivity... ;)

The victory and the spin put on the possible outcome prior to the event are unrelated in my eyes. You seem to be fed up with Americanism in general.

Personally, I enjoyed watching a damned, good game. :)
