I visited Jeff in the hospital this evening. They've removed about half the tubes they stuck in him - I was actually able to kiss him on the cheek. He can sit up in a chair now and the nurses walked him up and down the halls twice today. It looks like his body is accepting the new liver. His skin's turning pink already.
Jeff's chances are excellent. Our University Hospital is one of the best transplant centres in Canada and the surgical team was very experienced. The one assistant had participated in over 200 transplants - all successful.
It feels weird. Jeff has been dying before my eyes for three years and now, instead of wondering if he'll see if 35th birthday, he'll live a normal life. I feel like I can breathe for the first time this milennium.
It's a wonderful miracle.
