[OT] How Proud I am of NYC

Love my home

Yeah people out side my house were directing traffic. But I was stuck in Long Island drinking and BBQing. But hell then I got back home to Kings and Ocean Parkway, wow it was dark. I took some sleeping pills and thought I just want to wait for tommorow, and see if I have to go to work. Well, I did go to work back in Long Island, and now I just got home 4am on saturday and I can say I am happy to have power.

The power out did bring me and my ex gf a little closer, wasn't there a baby boom 9 months after the last black out, I'd invest in gerber in a few months if I were you.

Peace out, and thanks to all the new yorkers who helped each other in this mess.

BTW. I think my area was the last to get power but what ever, I have and I will use it now.

Close to home

No I don't chat at ROE (that's realms of evil right?.)

Yeah you are next to home, I used to frequent Kings Highway seeing my now so called ex on Ocean Ave and Ave N. Now I just drive to anywhere but this old neighborhood.

Question? have you gone to that place called Kings Games? It's past Coney Island and on Kings Hwy, I think it's like a gamers place with DND, Magic, and many internet computer games. But they are all kids (10-16 year olds I think.)

Anyway, you know what the black out was like. Good to have the power back.

[sidetrack] Seule, did you get my email? [/sidetrack]

I believe so. Unfortunately, although I have net access through my home provider, my email is on the work servers, which are still down. 56 hours without email and counting...

During the first night of the blackout, I was in Washington Square Park with my roommate and a lot of other people. Many had candles. Musicians played the drums and the flute for hours on end, while many others watched, talked, took pictures, danced, or even did martial arts (I started it, but it lasted long after I left, since it was still going on when I came back).

Also, some restaurants (pizzerias on that very night; Chinese restaurants the day after) managed to cook in candlelight. We had hot food, and even cold drinks! And the prices had not skyrocketted!

PA, since when have you been in NYC?

And ArthurQ, got a link for a thread about the NYC Gameday?

4 or 5 years.

And Arthur has already started THREE threads on the subject, which makes it hard to follow: I saved a link to the first one, but I nearly missed the two others; I'm not spending on the boards quite as much time as I used to.

Since I'm currently moving to a new place (10 minutes from my present appartment), I chose not to take any engagement. I'm in the very middle of packing right now. Normally, everything will be settled before September, but previous disastrous experiences with apartments taught me not to swear on that.
