Just in case you might not have heard (just kidding) and contrary to the news coverage, there are other major cities that are in the same situation as NYC....
And amazingly they're not rioting either.
Yay, North-eastern US!
Shrug.
Amazingly I do find that people usually act well. Especially during daylight, and when there isn't much alcohol consumed.
Now. If this power outage had happened on a day involving drinking - St Patrick's day, Mardi Gras, or some NYC team winning some sporting championship, yeah $5 says there woulda been some nastay riots.

Brooklyn did not have power.
however some specific apartment complexes or small community areas DO have their own power generators/batteries that generate/store electricity just in case this thing happens.

The above gamer might be in such an area. the Warbass buildings on W5th and Nostrand are such an area.

And yes, i know other cities are in the sam e situation. However after 2 days in the dark (yes 2 days for me) i dont give a damn. *grin*.

Let them suffer!

On the age thing, what really kills you is when you see that the playmate of the month was born after you graduated high school... or when your favorite song is played on the oldies station...

But I'm the same age as Arthur, and my favorite song gets some airtime on the "classic rock" station(Rape Me by Nirvana).

now that is a true New Yorker:D

Power back here in Bensonhurst. . . But still no subways - so no work for me! :D

I walked home from Manhattan yesterday, interuprted only by an hour or two of wandering around Bay Ridge looking for my mom and making sure she was with a family member or neighbor since I knew she was alone when it happened and I could not get through to anyone.

I got blisters on my blisters. Thankfully, I had a change of clothes (shorts) in my bag b/c I was supposed to go to the Mets game after work - or else I might have melted on my walk.

I friggin' love New York.

My buddy said some of Bensonhurst had power, and some didnt. This was about 2 hours ago though. He jumped on the B82 bus and is headed here. :D
