[OT] I just saw "The Sword and the Sorceror" for the first time...

...and I will never, ever play D&D again.

This movie was like a big intervention for me. It screamed, "of ALL the movies, WHY this?" It was because of D&D. This is what D&D has reduced me to.

So I quit. I will not play D&D again until I have successfully obtained a girlfriend and other aspects of a normal social life. I will ritualistically burn my 3e books, as well as my entire Wheel of Time collection (I have three copies of each book). I will burn all my Tolkien (two each, or maybe three?) and shed the nerd-dom that has become me.

Yes, I'm going to go straight... turn over a new leaf.

Right after I finish these other two campaigns that just really are at important parts right now that I just can't drop quite yet, so I can't burn my stuff just yet. But I will! Soon... oh yes... very soon...

Dang...

What is that movie about ? ? ?

You don't need your books to finish your campaign... just use the SRD...

...and send me your books.

Best movie ever. In 1982, I think I saw it 5 times. Yeah! Lich-tastic.

"Oh mighty warrior with big shiny sword,
What are you doing nailed up to that board..."

I own it... On DVD... It's not my fault... It was 4 dollers in the bargin bin at Future Shop. I made my girlfriend watch it with me that night... She was more convinced than ever that I'm compleately insane.

Of course this same girl has the orriginal Optimus Prime Transformer and spent the better part of a week hunting around various Wal-Marts so she could get her hands on The Todd McFarlain Twins action figures from the Matrix 2... We're geeks, we know... Kinda strange though seeing as how I've never convinced her to play D&D.

So there you go Halivar, you just need to find a girl like that. They're few and far between but they do exsist.

re

I thought it was a b-grade, campy action fantasy film that I enjoyed. It was a fun film with a simple, well-done plot and some semi-interesting characters. In essence, it was an above average fantasy film.

I remember seeing this film in the theatre, then again I also saw Deathstalker in the theatre.

I don't think its the movie that is the cause of your nerdiness.

I quote:

as well as my entire Wheel of Time collection (I have three copies of each book).

3 copies of each book man, and you wonder why you have no social life or a girlfriend. You my poor friend have paid the ultimate price. Because of you Robert Jordan thinks his books were good and sold well. He will continues to write and write until no tree is left standing. Maybe someday the universe will show pity on you and forgive you of the great crime you commited.

:p

Edit: I mispelled an emoticon of all things
