[OT] I'm bored! Post some of your favorite movies to rent.

Wow, that AFI list is impressive. I've seen most of them, and actually have 21 of them on tape. There are a lot on that list that you'd really have to be in the right mood for to see.

For "Just plain fun" films I'd reccommend:

The Adventures of Robin Hood (Errol Flynn vesion);

The Blues Brothers (described by Roger Ebert as "the Sherman Tank of musicals); and

Hercules starring Lou Ferrigno (a really great "bad" movie, lots of funny stuff to laugh at. Greek gods wearing chrome bikinis and Herc fighting robotic monsters! Plus some of the most cliche dialogue ever written. Skip the sequel though, it had a higher budget and better production values, so isn't near as good to poke fun of.)

Terry Gilliams's Baron Munhausen.
Pumpkinhead.
The first 5 minutes of Sword and the sorcerer. (Shoot your VCR after that though...)
Crossroads.
Pale Blood.
Innocent Blood.
And of course: Shreck!

The Auld Grump

This is my list so there will be things already mentioned, minus obvious ones like SW

The Boondock Saints
Braveheart
Fight Club
Futurama Volume 1 (not a movie, but to bad)
Josie and the Pussycats
The Last Boyscout
The Powerpuff Girls Movie
The Thirteenth Warrior

To chime in with those mentioning Terry Gilliam movies, how about Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas? Of course, it helps to get tanked first, and that may or may not be an option to you.

"Did you see what God just did to us, man?"

Dark Crystal
Shrek
Harry Potter I
Fellowship of the Ring

That's my currently scheduled viewing over and over and over.

I also like romantic comedies, right now the tops of the list are Kate and Leopold and Someone Like You. Trick and All Over the Guy are my two gay romantic comedies of choice right now.
