I agree with everyone else from hot/humid places. It isn't hot until your skin starts melting. Of course...I'm a Florida boy transplanted to Georgia...which is kind of funny because the people here scream its hot when it hits 70*...pfft, it isn't even WARM then...its HOT at about the 90* mark.

Isn't the heat index a little subjective? It's gonna feel like it's 93. That's like saying "Well it's gonna rain today, but if you have an umbrella, don't worry, it won't feel wet."

Not really. It means the temperature might be 95* today but it will feel more like 105* in the sun. Believe me that 10* is one heck of a difference. If you can't handle heat very well you are advised to stay indoors during some Heat Index days. Of course you are always advised to stay indoors from July to September.

Yeah, Hot is when you wake up to go to work at 6am and it is already 80*+!

Hot is when I doff my sweatshirt on my way home from the night shift and walk home in a t-shirt. Thankfully it hasn't come to that yet.

Its 15*C (59*F) here and it's damn hot.
Well actually, it really is hot. We rarely get anything above 20*C (68*F).
That is, until the sauna is ready and your sitting there in comfy 99*C (210*F).

This effect is most notable on roads and highways where the sun reflected off the pavement makes people especially stupid. It may only be 85 degrees. But when some idjit stops in the fast lane, 50 feet short of his exit, and then signals to be let across three other lanes of traffic (all moving at 60 MPH+), it feels like it's 110.

That's how the heat index works.

If I lived somewhere that never got above 80 (max), and ususally had summers around 75 with a stiff breeze, I'd be happy. Always been a Fall/Winter kid myself. It's why I only spent two years in California before running back to the Northeast.

Dude, your tolerance is pretty low. It isn't that hot in NJ right now. It's just freakin' humid. It's only 82 here in Piscataway. Put on the AC, or go get a window unit while it's early in the season and quit whinin'!

You ain't felt hot till you've lived in Hong Kong. When I was there - 95 with 100% humidity. Now that's HOT!
