(OT) Late-night munchies

First Post
I've just returned to my office from a late-night food run. I'm sure there must be other people out there who, from time to time, get those late-night cravings. You work weird hours, or you're on your way home from a gaming session, or you're just up late cruising in cyberspace. So where do you head when the munchie-demons must be fed, and what tributes do they demand?

Maybe since there are slim choosens in my home town, I usually end up at Jack in the Box. It's only two blocks from my office, and I like their varied menu. The two-tacos-for-99-cents deal is great, and I love their egg rolls. And their fountain Dr Pepper just tastes better than the cans in our vending machines. I also like their Ultimate Breakfast Sandwich. My wife swears that, after a night of partying, their Breakfast Jack is the best pre-emptive cure for a hangover.

I usually get one of Jack in the Box's many chicken sandwiches, a three-piece order of egg rolls and a Super Quencher-size Dr Pepper.

The only other 24-hour choice is Whataburger. I like their burgers, but I hate their fries. In fact, I don't like any fast food joint's fries. Why can't anyone make a consistently decent french fry? I long for the days of Burger King's French Frying Legion, when the fries were more of a reason to go there than the burgers. But that's another topic for another day. The choices at Whataburger are woefully few, and their Dr Pepper mix is always too flat.

We have a Wendy's, but it's only open late on weekends. Taco Bell also is only open late on weekends. What's up with that?

So, does anyone have any suggestions? Any favorite late-night munchie musts?

I dont work late, and i hate drive throughs, so i just go home after a game and pop a couple hot pockets in the microwave.

I dont eat meat, so almost everything is right out.

btw/ love the clandestine link. excellent band to bad they breaking up... :(

Jack -n- The Box rocks!!! Their #7 combo meal is killer... Hot Pockets are awsome to, but only the Ham and Cheese ones are worth anything...

Taco Bell sucks because they mess my order up to much, I refuse to go there!!!

I usually just chill with some Peanut Butter sandwiches, and some Little Debbie Oatmeal Pies, and must have Klondike Neopolitan Ice Cream Sandwiches!!!

I fall into the "up late crusing cyper space" section. Just went down and got myself a bowl of ceral actually. I want some real food, but we're kinda out. Don't even have any bread, so I can't go for tuna and I don't really want any Spagtte O's.

It's just that my stomich is getting a little too cozy with my backbone--cut it out you two, don't make me come down there--and I'm strapped for cash.

I guess that's what I get for filling up on a shake from Iceburg earlier today.

If I had a job, I would probably make something in the day and save leftovers for "lunch" at night.

Seeing as how I don't have a job, I don't usually have opportunity for munchies :) So it's usually whatever I have in the apartment, which varies from time to time. I almost never actually cook at night though. If something's made, or it can be microwaved/reheated, that's great. But actual cooking is right out.

Here are my choices (and what I need to roll on d%) of late night munchies.

Grocery Store (for those nights you know your going to be up): 1-10
Gas Station Microwave Foods:11-20
Mcdonald's Double Cheeseburger:21-27
Imo's St. Louis Style Pizza:28-35
Imo's Chicken Strips or Roast Beef Sandwich: 36-50
Local Place (far away): Joe Bacardi's Pizza: 51-60
Krispy Kreme Donuts: 61-70
Steak n' Shake Burger and Shake: 71-91
White Castle Chicken Sandwiches 92-96
White Castle "Crave Sack" 97-99
Local Place: Eat-Right 100

Yep... thats about right.

Well, I don't work late, and since I'm an early riser (usually up at 5:00am) I don't often get the late night munchies. But when I do, this is the list of things from which I usualy choose:

Ben & Jerry's ice cream
potato chips
cheetos
a bowl of cereal

If I want something more substantial, I go for a fried egg, onion and provelone sandwich. They're especially good if you have some rye w/ caraway seeds for the bread.

Hmm. I think it's time for breakfast....

U.F.O.

a u.f.o. from the local high 'n' handy, for those of you who have never lived in "the land of cotton" a u.f.o. is 2 of the best oatmeal cookies you have ever had, wrapped around excellent vanilla ice cream, dipped in very rich chocolate.......well, that does it, gotta go!

I've been known to cook some Yellow Death on occation, but other than that, I would have to agree.
