(OT) NFL Playoffs

Did anyone see that mighty Titans team vs the Texans. Not scary. SHould have enough to get to Oakland and die.
Titans are 10-1 in there last 11. Not scary, yes. But there is no team in the playoffs that is truly scary compared to previous years. Any of the 12 have a legit shot. The field this year is the most wide open ever.

Anyone remember the Jets vs the Bears? The Bears?!?! Has anyone watched the Bears this year? I mean without losing their lunch?
The Jets reeked in that game. It's only one game. The Giants & Steelers lost to Houston and looked bad. Philly lost to Jacksonville. Almost every team has a loss in there that made them look bad at the time.

For the Raiders, because they are hot the bye-week may not be a good thing. The playoffs will be mighty entertaining any way you slice it the way I see it. :)

Don't get me started!!!!!

Tampa may do it this year!

Thank God for the bye. The Bucs will definately need Brad Johnson to have any chance. If Rob Johnson or Shaun King play we won't make it past the first game.

My point was that while Titans, Jets and Giants are all called "hot" (not just here, check some sports sites), they really aren't playing that much better than some of the other teams in the playoffs. The Steelers have been coming on, and when they aren't playing the Titans the Colts have been beating teams too.

And yup, these are going to be some great games...

Yay! Football fans on ENWorld!

I'm calling my shot - in reverse order:

Super Bowl:
Jets over Buccaneers.

AFC:
Jets over Colts, Titans at Nashville, Raiders at Oakland
Raiders over Browns
Browns over Steelers

NFC:
Bucs over Atlanta for the NFC
Buccaneers over Giants at the Sombrero
Atlanta over GB at Lambeau and then Philly at the Vet
Giants over Niners

Wow, a lot of people think that the Browns second string QB with a running game in Green can defeat the Steelers, with the the best run defense this year. Most interesting. :D

I believe we agree. :)

When I think "hot" teams I think of a team that has been so-so all year and are recently playing well. The Raiders and Eagles have been playing more consistantly well all year so they are the favorites and they should be because of it (and their records). I guess it just means that the "hot" teams all of a sudden have a chance a la the Pats (and in baseball) and Angels.

If I am understanding, your initial counterpoint was just made to remind all of us not to discount a team like the Raiders. Yes?

Correct. Agreement all around!

I'm still a bit emotional after Sunday's AFC games, so here's not what I really expect to happen, but what I'd really LIKE to see happen:

Atlanta upsets GB. The Packers let me down on Sunday, and now I shall hate them forever. Or at least until next season.

I'm not smart or prescient - just happy :)

After this crazy of football year, I think the only thing that is almost a certainty is that the teams that most people are picking to go to the Superbowl (Raiders and Eagles) will NOT both be there.

It's the year of parity - the year of no guarantees, the year of upsets as soon as a team looks good, so don't go by appearances.

And the Steelers already beating the Brown twice this year doesn't say anything about them beating them again, or losing to them.
We'll see what the teams bring to the table tomorrow (at 1 pm Eastern, I believe)

Oh well...

Well, I'm disappointed that the Browns blew the lead
that they had against Pittsburgh (and I'm never happy
about losing to the Steelers!), but by making the
playoffs they did reach the level that I was hoping they
would attain this year. As long as they keep improving.

Anyways, I did get my wish of a mistake-filled Steeler
team being booed at home, but then they turned it
around instead of collapsing. Who knew?
