[OT]Off Topic threads a problem? -- Here's a solution:

The suggestion's come up before, and basically Morrus and other mods have said they don't want an OT forum. I can't say I blame them. OT threads are fun, but I prefer to seem them relatively contained and easy to access among the other threads in general discussion.

I don't see a problem or need for an extra forum. I'd like it better if there were less of them. Furthermore, not all off-topic threads are really off-topic. Baerandur's 'This is a Troll' thread was an excellent free-style RP-ing opportunity, besides being a witty snipe at nettiquette.

Allow me to quote from the FAQ!

Q: Can we have an Off-Topic forum?

A: Nope. Sorry. I have no interest in running such a board. All I want to run is a D&D/d20 board. If I ever do decide I'd like to run a messageboard on a subject other than D&D, then I'll start a website elsewhere.

You've read the FAQ, right? :)

I've read what you copied above! :)

Well, I don't want to sound like a jerk Piratecat, but you've got a huge messageboard here, and people probably have made quite a few online friends here.

They're not going to want to go to other websites to discuss topics with people they don't know. They're going to want the opinions of the friends they have made here, which is going to come across as an Off Topic thread. There might just be a ton of them!

Just my two cents. This is your party, I'm just fillin' my beer. :)

Mmmm. Beer.

The thing is, it's a D&D web site, so most of the threads should be about gaming. Some OT threads? No problem. Lots of OT threads? Not so good.

I agree, Kitty. I also think that many people (not all, and not just on this website) spend way too much time online, and should be out with their friends.

Anyway, I just wanted to offer some friendly advise, as I was a moderator on a baseball message board for over 3 years.
