LOL! The article is just tripe but that Monty Python skit is great!

I like how he says the Empire is 'mostly benign'

Blowing up whole planets, torture as an accept means of information gathering, wanton murder (Vader slays the rebel pilot of Leia's cruiser in ANH, then orders the deaths of Owen and Beru, at least indirectly). Yeah, that's really benign!

Well, the fact is that Han Solo was force sensitive -- that's canon. He was simply never trained. But the guy is right about the "rabble" not being force-sensitive; commoners don't have Jedi potential. But my big gripe is that both you and he have confused midichlorion count with genetics. The Force cannot run in genes, because it shows up in all species in the galaxy. Hence, Lucas' explaination of symbiotic microbes. That's why I love the midichlorion explaination -- without taking away the supernaturalness of the Force, it explains why Luke Skywalker or Yoda or Lowbacca can use the force, but Admiral Piett or Chewie could not.

I don't recall any of that. Where did you get it from? I'm guessing you're referring to various books/comics etc.?

The argument I was refuting very explicity drew only from the movies, and my arguments against it also drew only from the movies from a "your argument therefore lacks internal logic" viewpoint.

Whether his facts are right or wrong according to various people's opinions on what is canon and what is not isn't really the point. I was addressing his own lack of consistency.

[Edit - damn, thats the third time I've done that this week. I hit "edit" instead of "quote". - Morrus]

Re: Monty Python's, The Life of Skywalker...

Correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't that from Mel Brooks History of the World Part 1 rather than Monty Python? I hate to quibble, but I need to make sure I'm not going insane.

Life of Brian. Empire substituted for Romans.

The guy is full of crap IMO. There is a TON of implicatio in the original trilogy to suggest that Vader, the Emperor and his Empire are responsible for many unspeakable acts. The lack of visual evidence comes from the desire on Lucas' part to make a movie that kids can go see with their parents.

I totally agree with you HB,
He did destroy a "peaceful planet with no defences" in 'A New Hope' because it would be a more visual target.
(I don't know about you guys, but from the way the movies are going I get the feeling planet Naboo is going bye-bye in EpIII)
