[OT] Talisman for... $75??

As the last poster said, this is merely a re-print of the last core Talisman set. It does not contain ANY expansion material. GW does not plan to re-print any of the expansion material at this time.

The price is high because they are doing an extremely small print run on this product.

I recently read something in print that inferred that GW was obligated (contractually) to do something with the Talisman property every so often or else they would lose it, and, that this was the only reason that they re-printed the product.

Talisman was pretty fun, but I don't think it's $75 worth of fun. Use that money to find a good copy of Space Hulk on ebay instead - now THAT'S a great GW board game.

Space hulk rocked. We loved that game.
Talisman was really good though. (Though my judgement is defintely colored.... it was practically the only board game I've ever won consistently).

How many movies is $75 dollars?

Where I live that would be 10 movies for a single guy. ;) :D

I still have Talisman 2nd edition with all expansions but the City Expansion and I for one would pay 75.00 to get that expansion to get the entire collection for 2nd edition, which I think is way better than the 3rd edition.

This is what I heard too.

$75 for Talisman w/o expansions is in my opinion not worth it.
I loved Talisman, and had much fun playing it, but the expansions are need for any serious longevity.

Now if you you buy Talisman and the old Black Tower game, and somehow combine them with the old Atari "Adventure" game where the dragons look like seahorses, then my quest for complete childlike regression would be complete.

Those looking for bang for their buck should buy a copy of Diplomacy, years of enjoyment for that, and you would probably be still on your first game :)

Hello,

Yeah, $75 is on the steep side, but it's still nice to see it available again after all these years, even the lesser 3rd Edition.

The memory of a friend's old Origins program still brings a chuckle to me. The first item in the "Notes" listed for each Talisman event on the schedule was "No Prophetess." :D

Still, having a set of 2nd Edition, I'm not really in the market for it myself. As for things I might actually buy...when does their copyright on Warrior Knights run out? ;)

Of course we now look at it with dread, knowing that a single game will likely take us seven or eight hours...

Man, I feel your pain. Let me help you with your suffering a bit. You can ship the entire game (including all supplements, especially Dragon) to me and I will GUARANTEE that you will NEVER see it again. Think about the relief you will feel once that sense of overwhelming dread is gone. I'm willing to do his because I absolutely hate to see other gamers suffer. So if taking the punishment myself will ease your pain, then LET ME HELP YOU.

I'm serious. Email me for my mailing address and then go on to live a stress-free life.

If this is a reprint of 3rd edition Talisman without expansions then $75 is not something I am willing to spend. The information on this product is so limited. I kept asking if this was a "new" version and could not find out.

Talisman is a great game (and I have the older versions) so if this is not a new one then the appeal will only be to those who have never owned it but played it. In that case, with no expansions included (assuming this, I still don't actually know what is included) then this is a hefty price for the basic game.

I have to concur that if it's just the basic set for $75, they have to be smoking crack to expect someone to pay it. It's a good game it not that good a game.
