[OT] Talisman for... $75??

Augh!

Just reading this thread makes my head ache... I had Talisman 2e and ALL the expansions....but a few years back (in college), an ignorant roommate threw my big box of Talisman in the moldy, damp cellar of our place. He had no idea of what was in the box.

2 Months later, when I realized it was missing, I found the "box" in the cellar. All that was left was moldy bits of colored cardboard.

I almost wept openly. I still do sometimes when I think of it. I miss Talisman.

But $75 for the BASIC box? Pshaw. No way.

Having never played it, but hearing the nostalgia of several old gaming groups, I just may be interested in picking this up and trying it out.

I liked their original game, but found their Warhammerized edition tedious. I suspect that their re-released edition will be the same.

Man, I feel your pain. Let me help you with your suffering a bit.

Sure thing, man! I've ran out of styrofoam peanuts to pack with, so I'm gonna fill the rest of the box with my original Temple of Elemental Evil module and Legends & Lore (including Cthulhu mythos). :D

You're too generous. Honestly, I've got those already (actually two copies of the original Deities & Demigods, truth be told). The Talisman will be plenty. Plus those others probably don't overwhelm you with dread the way that Talisman apparently does. I really only want to help your suffering. I must have missed your email, though. How are you going to know where to send it?

It's all right, Mirthcard, I already supplied him with your mailing address. The fact that it looks like MY mailing address is purely coincidental, I assure you. North Carolina, South Carolina - It's a minor change.

I was thinking of buying this, but Talisman really isn't Talisman without the expansions.. A few people said that they were not going to be re-released, and I was wondering where they heard that...? Is it possible that if enough people buy the basic game GW will put out the expansions again? Or is that just my fanboy fantasy...?

(and yes, that last question was partly rhetorical)

It has one miniature for each of the 11 class/race options that people can play. I am wondering if these are pewter or plastic. If they are pewter then I could see the high price, but I still won't buy it cuz I still have 2nd edition with all expansions but one (missing City, I think thats the last one), but when no one buys it and its on the half price rack, i'll pick it up then.

Yeah. I adored, and still adore the original version...well except for the Timescape expansion. Still my alltime fave boardgame.

Still, having a set of 2nd Edition, I'm not really in the market for it myself. As for things I might actually buy...when does their copyright on Warrior Knights run out? ;)

Warrior Knights? Good Lord! that brings back memories. Never ever finished a game of that. Just remember playing several times, enjoying it and pausing the game and everyone noting what we all had and where we were. but for some reason none of those save games ever got continued.
