[OT] The Homework Thread (OVER)

You people just will not quit... and I really feel like I'm the guy stuck at a party about to tell a really bad joke, and I know it is bad, yet you keep heckling... anyway:

My speech went fine, although nobody seems to care... perfect grade and all, and although I was a little too informative (and not that interested in the subject) it went off quite well... thanx to my incredible charisma score (can we say 13?). I also have a +4 morale bonus to giving public speaches, and a -4 morale bonus to speaking to anyone alone without pissing them off...

So without further delay...

Well actually... technically since it's a bad story delaying wouldnt' be that bad of an idea. I should delay this thing by filling up line after line with pointless drivel so that nobody can stand to read through the actual short story. Right? I am correct, methinks, that that would annoy people to no end... anyway...

The person that recieved my topic was a relatively average guy. I don't know him that well, and I don't know what he does for entertainment, but he wasn't biased against the game, which is a good note. He's a bit... generic in that he wears band shirts and bluejeans every day. I think he's an idiot, but then again I'm a bit snobish about intelligence.

His report started off about the name of the game (Gary Gygax, etc. etc.) All information that is readily accessable through the internet I guess. He quickly veered off however, and instead of reciting facts he went into a description of Tolkien's books. He commented about how the origin of "fantasy novels" was based on Tolkien, and DnD was based on "fantasy novels". That was a little bit off-base... but it didn't really bother me any.

His essay included about... 80% information on LotR and about 10% information on the actual game (all obvious facts, like the game involves lotsa swords and spells and stuff). He mentioned the words, "forgotten realms" and "baldur's gate" a few times... talking about video games.

Nothing major really. He didn't mention any of the bad publicity (association to suicides and such, or anything from Jack Chick). My only qualm was his innaccuracies, and the incredible shortness of his speech. I spoke for a good 10 minutes, often-times going off on a slant for a while on a particular subject. His speech timed in at just over 3 minutes (the minimum). Nothing particularly funny, and I'm sorry to disappoint.

The only humor I got out of it was when the speech ended and the kid next to me (who knew it was my subject, and is a pretty good friend) said, "That kid's a dork, he plays dungeons and dragons" (in a really sarcastic sense, since this was coming from the two guys who actually played the game).

Told ya, not that funny. A little interesting to hear all the stupid drivel that the guy had to say, and his rather horrible assumptions about the game being a derivitive of the LotR books, but that's it. Sorry to disappoint...

[EDIT: sorry, this was irrelevant since you've already held your lecture or whatever... sorry...

You should include something about the two skateboarding legends that has contributed most to each their kind og skating:
(I'll give you a short dexcription of each)

Tony Hawk is still the worlds best vert skater (vert=half pipe w/ walls that go vertical), and has invented an incredible number of tricks as well as revolutionized vert skating. He is the only one to pull of the 900 degree spin!

Rodney Mullen is probably the best technichal street skater in the world. He invented the most popular skateboard tricks in the world, including the flatground ollie (although some dispute this), the kickflip, the 360 flip and many variations. He has a kind of sick career when it comes to going pro and stuff. He was fast!

Okay....

Other skateboard legends: Mike McGill (the McTwist), Steve Caballero (Caballerial), Christian Hosoi (Christ Air), I can't remember more right now...

Some of the most superstar skaters today: Eric Koston, Chad Muska, Arto Saari, Tony Hawk, Rodney Mullen (although he rarely makes appearences), etc. etc.

great...d

My apologies, Creamsteak, but I know nothing about skateboarding.
I tried it as a kid, but it never seemed interesting and I gave it up. (I never could even STAY on a skateboard for very long.)

Incidentally, I have not seen another person on a skateboard since I was a kid.
They invented rollerblades, and now everyone skates around in those, and skateboards have disappeared.
