[OT] What is the best selling beer in your country?

Well, maybe 10 years ago Fosters would have been the best seller, but definately not now. I don't know many people who even drink it anymore. Actually, I'm not even sure if you can get it anymore.

It's probably all shipped straight to America and our "Outback" restaurants. Here it is the biggest Australian import.

Yay! Beer thread! :D

Not sure which particular beer is the best seller here in the US - I assume it's Budweiser.

My favorite American beer is probably Hammer & Nail Brown Ale from Connecticut - but I haven't ben able to get it since moving out here.

My favorite import is Samual Smith's Nut Brown Ale, followed by several of their other brews.

Ahhh Beer, one of my fav topics.

It depends where you are in NZ. Up where I am in Auckland the best selling beer is probably Lion Red. In the deep south it's more likely to be Canturbury Draght or more likely Speights.

My favorite local beer is Monteith's Porter Ale, it's a limited release that comes out during winter. Montieth's Black beer is another good dark beer. Mac's Gold is my fav lager.

Favorite import is a toss up between Kilkenny's Draught Beer and Guiness

I have to agree on Budweiser. I've had a Samuel Smith but I can't recall where it was from. Here in Charleston we have several brew pubs and a local brewery. Most of their efforts are quite decent.;)

Speights sounds familiar.

Is Montieth's Black Beer a stout?

What a way for a first post! First hi yunz! As to a favorite beer, it's free.

In all seriouness, my favorite is the Pittsburgh brew, Iron City. Grew up with that. As to imports, I'll have to go Canadian, with Molson, Labatts, or Moosehead.

As to best selling, it's hard to say. I believe it's between Bud and Coors.

G'day

My guess would be that the best-selling beer in Australia is Victoria Bitter (which is actually a lager, not a bitter, but never mind that). My favourite Australia beer is Cooper's Sparkling Ale (actually an ale, by all that's wonderful!). I don't drink much imported beer (why bother?), but I did quite enjoy some Stella Artois (Belgian) that someone gave me a while ago.

Regards,

Agback

And what a handle.:D You didn't do that for this thread did you?

A former boss of mine had a few Iron City cans from the 70's in his office with the Steelers team on them. I hated Mondays when the Steelers got whiped on the previous Sunday.;)

Depends where you look. Definitely not widespread anymore. And when compared to some of the more popular ales in our fine land, I think Foster's should probably be translated as Australian for "Suckers."

I'd agree that the most popular Austrlaian beer is probably VB. My personal preference runs more towards Coopers.

That's a true fan. My dad has the whole colection as well as the Pirates from the 70's. He had to do a lot of drinking to get them all, but he feels the sacrifice was worth it. Of course Mom has had them packed away since 78, so who's to say if the collection is still all there.
