[OT] What is the best selling beer in your country?

Well my favorite ever is from a tiny micro-brewery in charlotte NC, Southend Brewery...oatmeal stout.
Favorite mass produced beer is Guinness, and if I have to drink our beloved American horse pee in a bottle I guess I take Pabst Blue Ribbon.

2. What is your favorite beer that originates in your country?

3. What is your favorite import?

What brought these questions to mind is that I was drinking a Warsteiner and noticed that it says on the label, "Best selling German Beer in the World." I am wondering is this true?

1. Bud Light, I think, maybe Bud.

2. Miller lite, with Icehouse a close second.

3. I don't drink imports :)

I think Enforcer is right about Coors Light being the most popular "beer" in the States right now.

I really don't think so. I've worked for restaruants and liqour stores in 3 different states (one west coast, on east coast, one midwest) and Bud and Bud Light outsell the Coors and Miller brands about 3 to 1. Local tastes may vary, but consider that in most bars you go to in the US, Coors brands aren't even available on tap.

When you throw michelob and busch in the mix, Anheuser Busch brands pretty much dominate the market.

Can it be that I'm the first from Germany posting on this beer thread?!

My favorite is Pott's Landbier, a regional quite dark beer brewed in western Germany.
Second is Erdinger Weizen (the dark version) from Bavaria.

Best selling beer? Hmm, not sure, there are so many different breweries in Germany. Perhaps Becks or Krombacher, don't know.

Most favorite imports are some belgian beers, but they're hard to get. Foster's is good also.

Best Selling Beer in the US: Bud Wies Er

Favorite domestic: Red Hook ESB when in US.
When in Germany: There's this little town... and we think the beer was called Alderbrau. (old beer?) Anyways, best damned beer I ever tasted.

Favorite Import: Leffe Blonde (recipe is from the 1290s or somthing like that...) wonderful Belgian.

HEY DD! Is it that hard to get Belgians in Germany? Someone needs to tell them to stop hoarding it for themselves.

Aaron.

What is the full name of this beer and who makes it?
I used to be able to get it in Michigan but no more.

XXXX or Fourex is brewed by Castlemaine Perkins here in Brisbane, Australia. They have many types - from light, mid, heavy, bitter, lager, wheat, etc.

It is generally viewed as a QUEENSLAND beer, like Toohey's is brewed in New South Wales, Swan in Western Australia, and Victoria Bitter is brewed in Victoria - the thing with VB is it's o god-damn cheap that most people buy it nation-wide.

Fosters is basically an export-only line, and perhaps the only line that is generally available across Australia is Light Ice.

My favourite local brews would be either Cascade Premium (from Tasmania) or Crown Lager (from Victoria).

My favourite import would be Kilkenny.

My favorite import is Guiness, though I've heard it tastes better in England because they only ship it in concentrated form to the states. I'd love for someone to prove or disprove that rumor for me.

Well since Guiness is Irish, it would taste better in Dublin, and it does. I won't try and explain why, I am not sure I know why, but it clearly DOES taste better in Ireland. In most pubs in England don't sell Guiness. But a good English bitters is a close second.

Also, any local brew in Munich if you can get there, and any decent Belgian White. I am also partial to Rogue's Dead Guy Ale in Oregon. I guess I could go on and on. Locally here in New Hampshire (where?) the Smutty Nose Pale Ale or the Red Hook ESB at the brewery is not bad either.

So much brew, so little time.

Coors Lite has been my liquid bread of choice lately, as well as Sam Adams Lite.

Plus, I will drink any stout on the planet.

Also had a Skullsplitter once, and a Merlin Ale....both the bottles say "product of Scotland."

Question: While reading this thread, how many of you have run to the fridge and popped a cold one (or a warm one, if you're a Brit)?

I'm thirsty.

The best selling beer in Sweden is Millenium. It's a cheap lager in a stylish can. Tastes so and so. Price is an important factor in Sweden due to the government having an alcohol monopoly.

The six or so top selling beers are Swedish but then we find a Finnish beer called Lapin Kulta (The gold of Lapland or some such) tightly followed by Carlsberg.

Personally I enjoy Vic Bitters but sadly I can't find them in my local store. If I want it I need to go 50 kms at least. Also I'd like to recommend the Royal Export from Denmark. A beer which mostly is contraband in Sweden.

Litres of beer sold per person and year. (A litre is roughly a quart).
