According to my TV "Fosters" is how Aussies say beer.

Well Aussies spell beer XXXX cause they can't spell in proper english like us in Godzone can:P

As for Godzone I'd say Lion Red was probably the most popular on a national scale although personally I like Speights Old Dark

Imports: Guiness and yeah Guiness in the UK does taste better cause imported stuff hass to be both concentrated and frozen

and have any of you Yankies tasted Wanker Beer?
Also imho US beer is generally crap:)

(oh and Thirsty (Kia ora) and Lion now owns Montieths iirc)

Light "Beer" will never pass these lips!

I don't know about having a favorite beer--there are just too many to choose from.

I just tried a great one from Belgium though...Duvel

Oh, and MerricB, no wonder you got into D&D. ;)

International: I've got some Moosehead's in the fridge at present, they're not to bad. Keep picking up something different at the bottleshop in the hope of finding that perfect beer.

Local: Crown is my choice for the moment, but I'm willing to change my mind if you buy me a slab!

Most interesting name: Piss Weak.

Actually, XXXX is just a Queensland thing. You should see the hassle my ex used to go through trying to find it on tap in other states. I think the rest of Australia tried, winced and let us keep it. You can try and pin it 'em if you want, but they're just going to deny and blame it on Terry Pratchett.

The same company does do a fairly reasonable wheat beer though, if your tastes run toward such things.

Newcastle (or bottle of dog in Newcastle) is drunk over here in the UK, tends to be more of an aquired taste ive found.

Guinness tends to taste different around the world, lot to do with the local water ive been told. Ive a preference for the proper Irish Guinness, but there you go.

My favourite drink would have to be Black Velvet (Guinness and Cider (or champagne if you are filthy rich!))
Best selling? Probably Carling, more like gnats pee if you ask me though.

Can it be that I'm the first from Germany posting on this beer thread?!

My favorite is Pott's Landbier, a regional quite dark beer brewed in western Germany.
Second is Erdinger Weizen (the dark version) from Bavaria.

Best selling beer? Hmm, not sure, there are so many different breweries in Germany. Perhaps Becks or Krombacher, don't know.

Most favorite imports are some belgian beers, but they're hard to get. Foster's is good also.

It's probably all shipped straight to America and our "Outback" restaurants. Here it is the biggest Australian import.

Its quite amusing really, fosters is quite nothing much here really. But overseas, everyone assumes we all drink it..

At least in the States, it's because many of us can't understand people that aren't advertising zombies like us.

"What do you mean they don't drink it?! But the commercials are so funny!"
