[OT] Who are YOU and what do you DO?

I'm 33 years old, and I've lived in 27 houses (well, that's if you include the 3 vehicles). Before I'm 34 I'll move to my 28th. I hope to die in that house. :) (careful what you wish for...)

I'm a Californian transplanted to New England, my wife came with me, as did my stepson (15). My second son was born out here (he's 4), and he's excited about his new house, where he can finally have the dog he deserves.

I have a BS in Math, I'm a rocket scientist for MIT, and I've been gaming my whole life. In fact, I got this gig 'cuz I'm a gamer. In the interview the recruiter asked why I applied for the job. I answered, "I haven't been playing wargames for 20 years just to pass up the first Department of Defense job that comes along!" He wrote "wargamer" on the sheet, and every single person in the followup interviews asked about it.

I have an amazing store of useless knowledge. I took a number of "cocktail party classes" in college, with the sole purpose of having something to chat about. I read history voraciously, love to game and play with the kids. I'd much rather hang with my family than anyone else, but I make friends very easily.

And apparently I'll babble on and on if you ask me about myself. :D

38 years old, been gaming since the day after my 14th birthday :) Played a vast multitude of games in the distant (10+ years ago) past, mostly only have time now for my weekly D&D game and a rare, monthly or so one-shot game of Mechwarrior or Car Wars or some such. Still play the odd computer game (RPG or strategy) now and then, mostly late at night after the family has gone to bed. Watch and read lots of fantasy and sci-fi, popular science stuff, history, etc.

My wife and son do not game; my son is a junior in college working on a business degree, so it's probably a blessing not to have him distracted by it as I was :) .

I work as an RN at a local hospital as does my wife. We have been together for 10 years and married for 4 1/2. She is, to borrow a phrase from Gollum, my precioussssss . I am your average Suth'n Boy, my wife is Persian, far more intelligent than I, and looks just like Jasmine on Alladin :D ; I consider myself blessed.

We are currently building our new house, and I am looking forward to getting my Gamgee on in my new garden next spring :)

For some reason I always have trouble with this sort of thing. ;)

I'm a 26 year old white guy from New York (born in France), currently living in Michigan and working as a night manager for a parking company in Ann Arbor. I live with my fabulous girlfriend of 2 years in an apartment that's too small to hold all of my books (which we're moving out of shortly -- yay!).

I've been gaming for about 15 years, and have loved games of all sorts since I was a little kid. I own far more gaming books than I'll ever be able to use, as well as oodles of comics, movies and books (mostly fantasy and sci-fi). I've been a voracious reader all my life (no TV until I was 15 helped with that), with Terry Pratchett, H.P. Lovecraft and William Gibson being among my longtime favorite authors. I spend my time at the computer, playing games, watching crime dramas and hanging out with friends. I have a few good friends, I love posting here, and apart from that I'm pretty antisocial.

Fun random facts: I was born with 6 toes on one foot, I've been married once (mistake!), I wear black T-shirts whenever possible, I write well, my license plate says HASTUR (and Michigan's "Great Lakes" motto is very appropriate), I own a shotgun, I didn't know how to drive until last year, and I have 8 different Cthulhus scattered throughout the house.

Apart from that, I don't feel quite right when I'm not running a campaign -- and fortunately I'm starting one this month. :D

25, male, paralegal at a large law firm in Dallas.

Like: Board games, RPGs set in FRCS, video games, poker, playing most competitive sports, dancing, watching and critiquing movies, being outside, working out, friendly scholarly debates, driving fast and travel.

Dislike: People who dislike competition, watching any competitive sport on TV, most television shows, strangers that start up chit-chat in public places, smokers, people who HAVE to answer their cell phones every damn time it rings, slow drivers and pollution.

I'm 28 years old, database developer working in Washington, D.C. I've been gaming for about 13 years now. Within the past year, I have gotten married at a little church in Orta San Giulio, Italy, moved cross-country with my new bride from California to Virginia, bought our first house, went on vacation to Belgium and The Netherlands, started a new job, and now my wife and I are expecting a daughter who is due in about 3 weeks. Gaming's been on hold for a while, but I'm hoping to join a group for a new 3.5 campaign this coming weekend.

Anyways, I've been a busy boy! :)

Lots of library people! I'm a 35 year old male librarian working for the government in Victoria, Canada. I've been gaming - and mostly GMing - since around grade 8. Other than that, I'm a pretty standard gaming guy - like fantasy novels, sci fi and fantasy movies, playing computer games, hiking/camping, etc. I love designing new spells, monsters, classes, etc., and am currently working on (yet another) redesign of d&d :p .

Jester... what do you do at Kinko's?

Just curious since I worked for them for some time in the Computer Services dept (is it still called that, or is it DT Graphics or some such now), later worked as a trainer and finally ended up as a CS manager. Anyway, that was years ago (before they went public) but I have fond and happy memories of working for Kinko's. It was an awesome place to work, I learned more practical knowledge about graphic design at Kinko's then I ever did from my graphic design degree. To this day, it's still my favorite job I've had, though it didn't pay enough to stay there :( (mind you Nasa isn't bad, I love it here, there was just something about the atmosphere at the store I worked at in Baton Rouge, LA).

Anyway, are the Kinko's still a good place to work at? When young graphic designers ask me for advice, I ussually point them to their nearest Kinko's. I want to make sure I'm not giving bad advice :).

wow, i haven't been here for a while, i'm suprised my account is still active.

I'm 21, live in Australia, currently studying biomedical science, and an active particpant in Softball.

well...other than being a big time lurker...
I'm 33, a family practice Physician Assistant currently working at a Drug/Alcohol Rehab. Married for 4 years to a nongamer with first child (a girl they tell us) due in 4 weeks that I look forward to geekifying;)
Live near the town where I was born in western PA, but lived in Milwaukee for 4 years.
Been gaming since age 10 and have played most RPG's out there at least once, but favorite has always been D&D. Also a minatures gamer and rabid computer player (planetside is taking up WAY too much of my time recently).
Used to be a HUGE poster on the old AOL TSR boards for Birthright, but never seemed to get the urge to post here, just love to read it all;)
