[OT] Who are YOU and what do you DO?

Well, let's see...

29-years old, living in Austin, Texas. (Moved here from Houston about two years back.)

I'm a full-time freelance writer in the RPG industry, for both D20 and World of Darkness stuff.

And I pathetically have very few hobbies outside RPGs. :D

I'm some dude.

I dm a lot, work at Kinkos in Davis, CA, and have a beautiful pug dog (see my avatar for a pic) named Maggie. I live with my girlfriend, Stacy, who's fantastic. We're currently babysitting another pug (Chato, a black male) in the hopes that he and Maggie will get along so we can adopt him as well.

Other than that, I'm kind of just another guy, you know? I like to party, I go to Burning Man every year, I love to travel (in fact, a while back I surfed couches across North America, in large part with the aid of the ENWorld community)- yeah, I'm just this guy, you know? ;)

I am a 22 (almost 23) years old law stdent who has absolutely no desire to become a lawyer...

I live in Brazil and you could say that I am a random poster, to be true, I understand those people who post more at work than at any other place, for I post more at my part-time job than at home...

I'm probably one of the few people you'll ever run across, or maybe even the only one, who can read Beowulf in the original Anglo-Saxon.

My English Prof. at Pomona College, Dick Barnes (rest his soul), could do that too. I'd love to see a film of Beowulf done in the original language with subtitles. It's a dream of mine. :) The self-selected subject of the oral examination for my graduation was all about sci-fi, fantasy, and horror and the transcendental catharsis they represent. Anyone else have to watch the Princess Bride and read Neuromancer to graduate?

I'm a 26 year old husband and father to a twin boys 2 1/2 years old. I've also got another set of twin boys due in about a week. What can I say? The best things in life come in twos. :) I love my family to death and it's the most important thing in the world to me by far.

Aside from that I'm also a java programmer and musician. I sing and play accordion, lap steel, ukulele, 12-string guitar, and bass guitar in a indie/folk rock band. Back in college I tried to pioneer a new genre of music called "poot rock" which was roughly based on the music from the computer game Star Control II but I've shied away from electronic music as of late. Also, if anyone knows the band Arlo they have a song about me called "Kenji" in which I get run over by a car and use the settlement money to buy musical equipment. My front teeth are kind of fubar though, since I bought music equipment instead of fixing them proper. :D

I remember when I was in 3rd grade and the school kindergarten teacher took my D&D books away when I was reading them waiting for the bus after school. It was a conspiracy, I tell you, and I raised holy hell until I got them back. I kept on reading them at school too. Ah, the good old days of D&D persecution! :)

I'm a pedant; I'm stubborn; I argue a lot. Those are, without doubt, my worst qualities. I use far too many semi-colons. I despise exclamation marks, feeling that they should be used only sparingly and in the most extreme of circumstances. I despise even more the practice of using more than one exclamation mark at the end of a sentence, and firmly believe that such people should be shot.

ME TOO!!!!!! :D
anyway, i turned 17 Feb. 21. i misuse camas and rarely use semi-colins :)(and go on tangents in parenthesese:confused: ). I am a reader, role/roll-player, and a lover of various computer games. my main interests in reading is Neil Gaimon, Robert Jordan (though i wish he would stop focusing on the ladies in the book, no offense to the ladies out there), michael moorcock (gotta love the elric series, but corrum and the other eternal warriors are good too) still have to read/finish lord of the rings, actually like some of jane austins stuff, though i never finished the books since it wasnt required of me, and though i don't read it frequently, and last read it for school, liked a lot of poetry from Lord tennysons time {like the lady of shallot (i also have a very sporatic memory that will keep me from remembering things and forget the basic mechanics of speech itself :rolleyes:)}

the more physical things i am into are soccer, ultimate frisbey, wushu guan at the moment, and watching my favorite(though not always the greatest) team the Cubs.

Well i cant think of anything else to say so bye!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

ps. i too hate it when people unnecessarily use exclamation points.

I lived in Lubbock from 1993-1997. Lubbock is mostly bad memories for me, but they do have some good restaurants. Like the chili cheeseburger joints, and all the other mom 'n pop burger and burrito shops.

I'm sorry about your bad memories, CanadienneBacon. :(

On another note, I remain firm in my belief that Slide Road in Lubbock, TX is the restaurant capital of the universe.

Cheers!

30. Recently engaged. I'm a marketing metrics consultant for a Fortune 500 company, which basically means that I analyze the response from different advertising creative and media vehicles. MBA, MS Information Systems, BA Psychology. Worked in banking, real estate, social services, and hi-tech.

Started playing in the 2nd grade and probably as a result am fairly "old school" in my tastes. That's probably why I'm a groknard as I've been called before ;) Enjoy volleyball, hiking, and soccer. INFJ personality type.

Both my husband and I are librarians, but he works in a medical library at a local hospital and I work for the public library, managing one of the branches. I've had a life long interest in medieval history and prehistory, though I'm really more of a dabbler than an expert. I'm probably one of the few people you'll ever run across, or maybe even the only one, who can read Beowulf in the original Anglo-Saxon.

I thought it was pretty cool when i learned that there was a group of people living of the coast of sweden or some other place that could naturally read/speak Old English that anchient old language. i also think it is pretty amusing that though old english is the founder of most of the english language, that teh majority of the english language comes from old french.

Hello, I've been a lurker here for a while and have only recently started posting.

I'm 25 (26 in October). I've been gaming since the late 80's.

I' grew up around Boise, Idaho (Nampa actually). I'm a computer programmer for the US Air Force and have been in the service for almost six years. (Only 14 more years to go until I can retire. Wohoo!!) I was stationed in Omaha, Nebraska for three years where I met my lovely wife. We've been married for two years now. No kids yet, but we have two kittens that we pamper like kids. Currently I'm stationed in Germany and my wife and I are really enjoying bieng here.

I enjoy computers (go figure, huh.), painting miniatures, anime and the occasional game of paintball. I've recently started building gaming terain and have found that to be alot of fun. What's that you say? I didn't list D&D as a hobby? It's not a hobby, it's an obsession! Oh, and I have a quirky sense of humor too. :)

About Me

Im a 26 year old male originally from the San Fernando Valley in California...moved to Las Vegas in early '97 and started bartending as soon as I turned 21, been working on Flair Bartending for awhile now.
Started playing D&D in '84 with a friends older brother and have been playing since, about 2 years ago I started a project called "pdf d20 online", but got a huge workload right when I started off and couldnt continue with it. Havent been able to play in almost 2 years either but hopefully I can find a play by post game or something that can work with my school and work.
Got tired of bartending and am going back to school starting in September. Relocating to Pheonix, AZ to attend The University of Advancing Technology for a career in Video Game Design.
I miss the Dark Sun campaign setting alot, I wish Troy Denning was still flashing out the world of Athas. That about covers it
