[OT] Who are YOU and what do you DO?

Earth, Wind, and Fire!

Yeah, hey
When you wish upon a star
Dreams will take you very far, yeah
When you wish upon a dream
Life ain´t always what it seems, oh yeah
Once you see your light so clear
In the sky so very dear

You´re a shinig star, no matter who you are
Shining bright to see what you can truly be
That you can truly be

Shining star come into view
Shine is watchful light on you, yeah
Gives you strength to carry on
Make your body big and strong
Future roads for you to pass
Love to watch your mug past

The shining star, lucky you
The sinful redeeming shall be true
On an adventure of the sun, yeah
Yeah it´s all awake and just begun
Yeah, thought I had to stir the mood
That´s it now I got my own oh yeah

So if you find yourself in need
Why don´t you listen to his words of heat
Be a child free of sin
Be some place, yes I can
Words of Wisdom: Yes I can

You´re a shinig star, no matter who you are
Shining bright to see what you can truly be
You´re a shinig star, no matter who you are
Shining bright to see what you can truly be

Shining star for you to see, what your life can truly be
Shining star for you to see, what your life can truly be
Shining star for you to see, what your life can truly be

I am dedicated to teaching people to not fear the funk, and I am the only white man I know who can sing along with Curtis Mayfield, the O'Jays, the Chi-Lites, and Parliament (I gots my mothership connection!).
When I saw George Clinton and the P-Funk All-Stars live, it changed my life.

About me...

I'm 25, male, live in Virginia. Originally from way up north in New Hampshire. I own a house just outside of Richmond, and live there with my girlfriend and our cat, Spot. I am in the information protection field. I've only been gaming since age 18 or so, but played computer RPGs long before that. I still have a copy of the Dungeons of Moria lying around somewhere. Anyway, I enjoy movies, digital video production, gaming (of course), baseball, Jack Daniels, fishing, and live music. I would do them all at the same time, if it were possible. If the world were perfect, I would live in a small cabin on a lake, fish all day, and party/game with friends all night.

Edit: I nearly forgot, I love wine too- particularly dry reds like Shiraz.

I'm 43, married to a non-gamer, with no children but four cats. I'm a journalist -- I'm currently the entertainment editor for a small daily newspaper. My hobbies and interests include role-playing games of all sorts (in addition to D&D, I currently play Traveller), movies, reading, music, sports, and collecting blade weapons. I've been playing D&D since 1980.

Ok, let me see if I can make what was once a rambling, incoherent post into something more organized.

Stats:
23 year old white male, gaming since age 13. I'm an atheist and tend to the liberal side of politics.

Education:

I am currently finishing my college education. I spent a year and a half at UMaine Farmington before transferring to Rutgers University, where I am currently dual majoring in Philosophy/Information Technology and Informatics.

Occupation: For the next week I work at a video store. During the school year I work for Resnet, which basically means I'm a troubleshooter for the dorm network at my school.

Career goals:

Realistically, I want to be a lawyer, though I may end up in the technology field.

In my wildest dreams I win the lottery and either become a philosophy professor, science teacher, or write novels (depending on what mood I am during the daydream).

Gaming: I'm a big D&D fan, and I play 3rd edition, which I love. I started with 2nd edition when I was 13, and played it on and off over the years, more because those are the rules most gamers know than for any love of the system.

I had some fond years playing Skyrealms of Jorune with a friend of mine, and we also played some great Battletech/Mechwarrior games. I played some Star Wars during HS when the re-releases came out, but overall I didn't game as much as I wanted to. KODT kept me in the fold. That, and temporary bouts Magic addiction. Still love that game; hopefully my girlfriend and I will get some good games when I go to the beach next week.

When I first read about 3rd edition, I was overjoyed. The more I read about it, the more I liked it. I remember thinking to myself "Wow, they fixed everything I hate about second edition."

I've been playing 3rd edition more on than off since it came out, and have been having some great times.

I recently started getting into the non Card/RPG side of gaming. Frag is awesome.

I also collect RPGs. Originally this was the excuse I made for not playing all those games that I bought, but recently I've begun collecting older D&D stuff via eBay.

Hobbies other than gaming:

computer games, mostly FPS's, especially Quake 3.

reading, mostly fantasy/sf novels, though I read philosophy and science books as well. Every once in awhile I read some mainstream fiction.

Hi, I'm Arc and I'm a gameaholic.

I've been a geek for all 20 years of my life, being born with a copy of DM's Rule Zero in my hand and a d20 in my mouth (I almost choked. :( ) I'm from just north of Birmingham, Alabama. I currently attend the University of Alabama where I'm a junior studying an Education (social sciences, I'll be a history teacher in a state where the education system is ready to collapse) major by day, masked crime fighter by night.

I'm not married, but I am enjoying life with my fiancée. I'm a huge Tool fan. I've been playing D&D since right before I started college.

More about me can be found here: http://realmofarc.homestead.com/files or at http://arc7.deviantart.com/

Hrm... let's see.

I'm Eric, a 25-year old geek in Ann Arbor, MI. By day I'm a molecular biologist in a lab studying the protein interactions of potassium ion channels; by night I am variously a science-fiction writer (two publications), a chemistry teacher, a PHP coder, an amateur violinist, webmaster for the local science fiction club, web person for said club's annual convention, a board gamer (anyone for a game of Settlers?), and an RP gamer.

All that and I'm getting married in two months to my girlfriend of 4+ years.

I keep busy. :)

Just another lurker here...

Here's the experience, you guess the age. :)

Lived in small-town Nebraska (where we put holes in varmints, too) until college-time. Bachelor's degree in Criminal Justice from University of Nebraska-Lincoln. (Note here that Lincoln at the time had the premier bar scene of almost every University I have ever visited.) European experience is London for 3 weeks, out to Stonehenge and countryside for a bit, and over to Paris for a week or so (love Paris, hate Parisians). Visited 36 of the 50 united states...

Married for almost 10 years (anniverasary is 8/7). Wife is front-of-the-class, ask-a-lot-of-questions type; I'm back-of-the-class, ace-the-final-without-studying type.

Lived in Vegas for a while. Been in Orange County, CA long enough to get a Master's degree in Urban Planning and figure out that I needed the salary of a software job to actually *live* in Southern California.

Rescued two dogs from death row: Chewie and Loki. Two goldfish swim around in the tank on top of the refrigerator: Rock and Al. Used to be three goldfish: Rock, Et and Al... (Note here that I am using a lot of parentheses for some reason??) (Also note that double question marks is rather weird and could probably also get a person shot.)

Where was I? Oh, yeah, played D&D since the Red Box. Read and re-read every Gemmel book I can get my hands on. DM D&D every Tuesday night.

Um, oh yeah, was Chaotic Evil until getting married. Been working on the whole morals and ethics thing ever since. It was a conscious choice to change alignment, but man I still think I took a major experience hit...

Shot myself with an arrow while in Middle School.

Hmm... getting bored.

Oh yeah, I drive a 1973 Steyr-Puch Pinzgauer 710M around for fun, and I'm older than that.

:p

EDIT: One other thing... did anyone else ever enjoy playing Talislanta besides me?

I'm 37 and live in Kansas with my sweet wife of 15 years and our two very funny kids. I'm also the manager of creative innovations, research and development for a greeting card company. (Work on cellphones, websites, electronic ornaments, printing processes, strange ink formulae, etc, etc.) Before that I was a cartoonist, animator and writer. Graduated from University of Kansas with an illustration/design degree in '89.

I've been playing D and D in all its incarnations since '78. I research and read a lot, run, collect German board games, rpgs of every kind and write constantly.

Currently I'm working on turning my homebrew into yet another published setting.

Howdy. I'm Wendy. I'm 30. I'm married to a US Navy servicemember. We have a 2-year-old daughter and 11-month-old twin girls. I'm a stay-at-home mum. We currently live in Seoul, Korea, but we're moving to Hawaii in August. We don't own a functioning vehicle right now, but we've ordered the grand daddy of gas-guzzlers for our arrival in Hawaii...a Ford Excursion...the front hood (bonnet, to those of you in GB) is taller than I am.

I was born in Canada of American parents, who are hippies even to this day. I grew up in the American west, lived in British Columbia, Alberta, Colorado, Wyoming, New Orleans, California, Texas, and South Carolina. I've attended university but have yet to graduate...just wasn't serious enough in my youth. I'm currently taking classes from the University of Maryland and have a 4.0 in both Information Technology and Literature/Linguistics. Go, me...proud of myself for finally getting it together in that department.

My goal is to finish up school, get that piece of paper, then continue to stay home with the children for a few years. I would like to return to work in about six or seven years, but right now the children are my first priority. It's important to us to do everything we can to help them grow up to be responsible, kind-hearted adults. Staying home to raise them is a big part of that responsibility. My husband is wonderful with the kids and a great guy to boot.

Before our first child was born I was in the US Army, working as a Korean linguist and interrogator. I didn't care for it, and was only too happy to leave the service when our first child was born. Before the army, I chefed (is that one f or two?), which remarkably did not manage to spoil my continuing love of cooking.

I very recently wiggled my way into Bastion Press as a reviewer and am now happily ensconced with a review copy of Into the Green. The material is very good and I'm very happy to have something interesting to do with my wee bit of spare time. When I'm done making notes and writing up my review, I'll post a copy over at Mortality. My other pasttimes include running 10Ks and marathons, reading, D&D, drinking coffee on the balcony, and cooking. I'm primarily a 3.0 player, though I like looking over the 2nd editon material from time to time.

I'm hot-tempered and impatient but my passive aggressive streak often masks that quality, at least for a time. I recently quit the WotC boards because I felt they were too flame-ish for my taste. I like EnWorld because of its vastness and laid back attitude. I'm a Mortality regular, that's my internet home away from home. I'm a quiet person around others and find large groups intimidating, but I'm very interested in people and am also very kind and friendly. I'm an only child, but my husband is from a large family and we are doing our best to add to his extended family. We would like to have two more children.

My favorite music is the blues, but I like the gamut. Classic rock is also a favorite. I haven't a favorite author. The last book I read was Harry Potter and The Order of the Phoenix, before that I read A Song of Ice and Fire by George R.R. Martin, which I thoroughly enjoyed. I also read and enjoyed The Wheel of Time, but I could not get past page 90 of Crossroads of Twilight to save my life. I'm hoping to finish reading Winesburg, Ohio on the plane when we move to Hawaii next month.

I'm 33 years old, married for 6 years, with 1.5 kids (both boys), a 20-month old, and a -3 week old (he's due in 3 weeks :) ).

I work at the local community college in purchasing (I get to spend other people's money). :D

I've been playing D&D since my parents gave me the red box in 1980. It's been a passion of mine ever since.

I hope to one day actually attend Gen Con, especially after reading the wonderful stories about it that everyone has been telling here!
