[OT] Who are YOU and what do you DO?

My main hobby (other than D&D) is writing song parodies and acting.

MojoGM & I also wrong song parodies :) I'm home sick today so my response is going to be longer than most...

I am 26. Born in Weymouth MA, now living in Methuen MA with MojoGM & our jack russel terrier puppy, Monty and our lab rat, Barbarella. I work for a big publisher doing really boring desk work. My actual title is "Returns Analyst" which sounds way more prestigious than it actually is.

I have been around gaming since junior high, but only seriously started playing a few months ago. I can safely say I'll never stop :)

Aside from RPGS & parody song writing :) my hobbies/interests are : MST3K, Fantasy, animals, musical theater, reading, sideshow & circus stuff, animation, pondering current events, collecting record albums with bizarre covers and writing.
My favorite music is freakishly eclectic : Rush, The Counting Crows, Bad Religion, The Dead Milkmen, Weird Al Yankovic (I was totally in love with him in high school), Me First & The Gimme Gimme's, The Alan Parsons Project, Lavay Smith, Peggy Lee, Elvis Costello, They Might Be Giants, Disney cartoon music and showtunes.

Besides MST3K, I like Babylon 5, and cool, random crime shows like Monk, The Pretender & The Dead Zone. I like Smallville too. I still watch The Adventures of Pete and Pete. I like the Gilmore Girls because of the witty banter and the fact that Kirk is really amusing :) I have this weird thing with cartoons. I think I like animation better than live action movies. I like everything from cheesy horror to classic films. The only genre I really don't like is romantic comedy. I'd much rather see wizards dueling, gelfings wandering or Bruce Willis kicking 4$$.

My favorite author is Christopher Moore. My other favorite authors/books : Victor Hugo, Douglas Adams, Neil Gaiman, "Geek Love" - Katherine Dunn & "The Circus of Dr. Lao" - Charles Finney
I can't stand pretentiousness and reality TV :) ...Oh yeah. And that's me in my avatar. I look as though a ball of light was erupting in front of me because I didn't have the flash set right and I'm too lazy to photoshop...

That would be me, in a nutshell. :)

EDIT : That's no longer me in my avatar... That's Monty-dog in my avatar now...

I'm a 20 year old 3rd year computer engineering student. My interests are all things nerdy, so D&D, computer games, Sci-Fi/Fantasy books, TV shows, and movies. I also spend far too much time talking to gregor about D&D and life.
I started gaming in my last year of elementary school so it's been a little over 8 years.

I'm 25, i was born in Conneticut and moved to Wareham mass at age 5. I currently do nothing. I was formerly a commecial shellfisherman, amoungst other things. I like the beer.:D

I'm 33, I'm a Catholic Priest (two years ordained). I'll be starting a Master's degree in Philosophy in September. Big fan of Buffy the Vampire Slayer (series at an end after 7 great years) and of Sepulchrave's story hour (link in my sig).

29, and I live in Southampon on the south coast of England. I was born in Torbay, Devon, and lived in the Midlands for about 10 years before moving down here. I was lazy at school, but still managed to get 11 GCSEs and 3 A Levels fairly easily.

I've had various office-based jobs throughout my adult life, and despised them all. I eventually quit that to run this site, hoping against hope that I could somehow live off of a web site about one of the things I enjoy most. It sometimes works out, sometimes doesn't.

I was introduced to AD&D 1E back when I was 11 or so, upgraded to 2E when it came out and then to 3E when that came out. I've played the occasional one-shot of other RPGs, but it's really always been D&D for me.

I am fascinated by English history from about the time of the Norman conquest. I love old buildings; I hate new buildings with a passion, and if I ruled the world, 90% of the buildings would be knocked down and replaced with some decent architecture. I despise the car, feeling that it is one of the reasons that the world we live in today is so ugly, yet I'm a hypocrite because I have one....

I read a lot less now than I used to. These days, I find the quality of fantasy novels to be far less than they used to be, although I couldn't say for sure whether that's because my tastes have changed. My taste in movies has certainly changed over the years, and I find myself looking forward to a low-budget production called "To Kill A King" (about Oliver Cromwell, starring Tim Roth) far more than something like, say, "Hulk" or "X2". I am very much looking forward to "Return of the King" and "Star Wars: Episode III", however.

I'm a pedant; I'm stubborn; I argue a lot. Those are, without doubt, my worst qualities. I use far too many semi-colons. I despise exclamation marks, feeling that they should be used only sparingly and in the most extreme of circumstances. I despise even more the practice of using more than one exclamation mark at the end of a sentence, and firmly believe that such people should be shot.

I like to visit new places, both in my own country and abroad. The places I most want to visit are Egypt, China and Russia. The only place I'd ever consider emigrating to is Canada but, though I complain about it a lot, I love my own country too much to live anywhere else.

I'm a very honest person, and have very high moral standards; one of my flaws is that I expect others to meet those standards, and can be very critical of them when I feel that they don't. I dislike large corporations and bureaucracy, and feel that many companies wield too much power over peoples' lives.

I love gadgets, and always want the latest mobile phone etc. I'm the sort who would have a GPS navigaton system in my car if it weren't worth more the car itself. As for cars, my dream car is a silver Aston Martin Vanquish. I wouldn't be seen dead in a Ferarri or a Lamborghini. Like I'd ever have the choice....

Another of my faults is that I can take a dislike to a person very quickly, and am unable to hide it. My girlfriend often chastises me for being rude to people I meet, and it is something I try to reign in. I think it boils down to not suffering fools gladly, and if someone I meet does something of which I morally disapprove before I get to know them well, I find that that colours my whole perception of that person. That, again, is something I try to change.

I've made myself sound absolutely horrible! I'm not, I assure you! I do have good qualities too! :)

24, and living in Chapel Hill, NC. Moved here from Boston almost 1 year ago (14 days shy). Graduate student studying English lit (Victorian and the Novel, specifically interested in detective fiction, horror, and the city) and preparing for my comprehensive exams (currently reading Faulkner's Go Down, Moses, which, contrary to all my expectations, I like very much). I'm obsessed with baseball and, more specifically, the Red Sox. I miss New England fiercely, but generally like Chapel Hill and NC, so it's all good. I have almost no control over my desire to embed parentheticals into e-mails or posts. If I don't use parentheticals, it's those long dashes—I'm working on it. Kind of. :p As for D&D, I was out of gaming for 10 years between 1993 and 2002, and I just picked it back up on whim. Glad I did, as my group down here has turned out to be wicked cool folks.

Best,
tKL

By day, I'm a long-term temp working in the risk review department of a large West Coast bank. That's check fraud, to the layman. It's alright, as office jobs go. I'm a temp, so as long as I don't try to swallow my computer mouse more than twice a day, they think I'm a genius and heap praise on me. It pays decent, at least enough to indulge certain whims.

By night, I write comedy, music reviews, film reviews, a blog, and whatever else I can get my mitts on. My influences (literary, musically, and alchoholically) include Hunter S. Thompson, Neal Stephenson, William Gibson, Woody Allen, Neil Gaiman, Kurt Vonnegut, Monty Python, Frank Miller, Garth Ennis, Cake, Radiohead, Beatles, Marvin Gaye, Tom Wolfe, Dr. Seuss, Michael Moorcock, Newcastle Brown Ale, and Quentin Tarantino.

Some things one should know about me: I'm your standard issue 26-year-old white guy. I live with my girlfriend (of four years) and our two dogs. I've been gaming since I was about, oh, 12 or so. I drive an ugly car. We own a nice house in the suburbs with a white picket fence and neighbors who play loud reggae music every Saturday morning. I watch way more television than would seem humanly possible. I have the makings of a sleep disorder. I go out drinking with my friends sometimes, except for my girlfriend who's a teetotaler. I've seen a UFO. Sometimes I just laugh out loud to myself, much to the surprise of others. I have nightmares about being lost in the woods. I barbecue a tri-tip that would make you change your religion. Despite only having been a dabbler in martial arts years ago, I own an impressive collection of Eastern weapons. I can't figure out how TiVo works, which is OK because I don't have it. My music collection is respectable, but not obsessively so. I'm guilty of judging people based on which Godfather movie is their favorite. I spend $40 on computer games and get bored with them after a weekend. I'm secretly envious of people with higher post counts than mine. To answer the inevitable question, that IS a banana in my pocket, and I'm NOT happy to see you.

BTW: I didn't know Morrus lived off of ENWorld profits. Makes me feel even better about being a Community Supporter. Cheers, mate.

I am a 22 year old male (about to turn 23). I live in Victoria, Australia, about two hours east of Melbourne.

I work as an assisstant manager of a menswear store, and have recently become engaged to my girlfriend of 2 1/2 years. I run a website that offers new rules and resources for the d20 system, and have started a small e-publishing company,
