Just wondering how many of you fellow EnWorld-ers listen to that kind of music.
For myself, I've been out of the loop for a while now. I think I'm getting nostalgic for those DJs that I saw while I was on my ecstacy honeymoon. (Oakenfold, Jules, Tall Paul, to name a few.)
Best DJ I've seen out was Krafty Kuts...he does an incredible live set, and soon after I heard an excellent hip hop set on the radio. Sure enough, it was him...
Producer/DJs whose work I admire in particular include Luna-C and Ham. Oldschool-style rave hardcore is my favourite style of dance music, and happily, it's being produced again these days...
I've never been able to really get into the musi to any great degree. It always seemd akin to being famous for having a great record collection and, well, playing them for the crowd while dancing a bit.
I was always waiting for them to show a really exceelent series of videotapes for an encore.
Oakenfold, Sasha & Digweed (seperate and together), DJ Tiesto, Orbital, Aphex Twin, Carl Cox.. that's all I can think of off the top of my head. I'm mostly an indie guy tho, Fat Wreck Chords, Drive Thru, Vagrant...
DJ/producers (sounds a bit like multiclassing, eh?) and producers on the other hand, usually deserve the respect they get. Turntablists also tend to deserve it too...
I must admit I haven't been keeping up with the dance music lately (more into rap if anything at the moment); though a few years ago in Ibiza I happened to catch Tall Paul live (club Amnesia) and he was truly excellent, very good night!
