So, I actually felt great at the gym today. The numbers went up, the pain was avoidable in the shoulder and so I of course just pushed other things harder because uhhh I'm smart like that.

Had a chat with the Trainer, told him I was feeling great, had pushed as hard as I have since I started up again.

But boy oh boy has it hit me now that I'm taking a seat after laundry and dinner...

I do wonder, if I had a mentor as a kid, and access to the supplements I have now...what I could have turned out as, and which injuries I could have avoided but alas.

Keep grinding, it doesnt get easier, you just work harder.

I've been having some serious shoulder pain and went to see a massage therapist yesterday. He gave me even more pain working through my issues, gave me some homework and sent me on my way. My plan going forward is to do that homework, focus on running and lower body exercises while doing recovery work for my shoulder. When I, hopefully, get pain free I'll start a new routine focusing on calisthenics instead of weightlifting. I'll also try to be better at quality over quantity and getting enough rest/recovery as to avoid damaging myself even more as I get older.

Today, was a long day.

I had a 5:30 am meeting (thanks Europe!) a full work day, a Leg day + cardio, and then I had errands, including some furniture assembly, which I have always always always hated. I've only now been able to get cleaned up and sit down.

Lessons learned on when I should simply put the phone away and close the laptop.

ANYWAY.

As I have noted, football took its toll on me, and I dont have much in the way of functional knees, so getting heavier weight will probably be a challenge on Squats. I need to work on my flexibility for Deadlifts, but I'm working on that.

Today was

Cardio
Range of motion work (every other day for the shoulder).
Legs.
Cardio

Tomorrow, Back/Biceps.

Back workout was a winner.

I must admit, as it seems folks at my gym are tuning up for the spring/summer season here, it can be a bit discouraging to see the incredible fitness some of them have achieved, but time and effort is all it takes.

Next month, I begin diet correction.
May, I go on a diet.

Not looking forward to May.

Try not to get discouraged about other people if you can. If you are putting in the time and working on staying healthy as best you can, that is what matters.

Logically of course, you are correct. It's hard sometimes to just not look around and think 'damn...' however.

I mean I'm in a small city, and you would think if you dropped these guys and gals in a gym 20 or 25 years ago? Absolute fitness model type bodies.

My 2nd of the two leg days with bonus range of motion sets for the shoulder. Knee stability is improving, its not pain like my shoulder, but I dont wish knee issues on anyone.

I was really happy with the feel on my various squats, and deadlift and the numbers went up on isolation leg extension/curls so win's all around.

I did have 1 early start this week at work, and 1 bad dinner this week so was/am feeling pretty drained and my upper body is just tired today.

Another half hour or so of work to hopefully close out one task, then early bed.

Friday - Shoulder/Chest day of suffering.
